I don't see it replacing XM or Sirus until the Cell Phone companies can beat them on subscription price. I doubt it will happen and in many parts of the country it will be unavailable due to the lack of cell towers.

This is what I've been wanting (best solution would be for my internet radio favorites to be added to Sirrus).
Alternate scheme is for me to just buffer off the archives of the programs I like, and burn them to CD. While it isn't live, I can hear the complete broadcast.

well if the connection isn't any better than cell phone connections, XM and Sirius have absolutely NOTHING to worry about.
using a cell phone tend amount to communicating with smoke signals. LOL

Looks like I'm ahead of the technology curve! I've been listening to my Mp3's by patching my IPOD through my car stereo for over a year. I just recently started downloading IMAO-Podcast to listen to in the car. Turns out that a podcast has to be pretty damned good for me to be listening to it on my car. On the other hand, I drive in places where there is almost NO radio reception. When you get sick of CD's it's awesome to listen to whatever's on your Mp3 player. You can get one of these stereos with the 3.7mm jack at any Circuit City or Bestbuy.

The hurdle here is not getting "internet radio" into the car, its getting the internet into the car. Once the internet is in the car, of course internet radio can be brought in easily.
The issue here, of course, is how does one get a fast enough internet connection into the car in order to be able to listen to an internet radio station, let alone jump back in forth between six stations.
I don't think Sirius and XM have much to worry about.

All of this is old hat. I now subscribe to podcasts (time-shifted radio) and listen to them in my car on my iPod. Between that and Sirius, I may never listen to terrestrial (or Internet) radio again.
