See #20.

There is no way to compare the bravery of most of the military. We give medals to those who are observed being brave at a particular time and place, but even that is subjective from unit to unit.

Hackett is flat out wrong for talking about his commander in chief the way he has. (I'm hoping he's resigned his commission, otherwise, I think his comments are a violation of the UCMJ.)

But, don't be misled. Civil Affairs is a tough, dangerous job involving direct work with any populations affected by any of our military efforts.

She's carpet bombing the Cincinnati market with ads. I have yet to see a Hackett ad in Cincinnati. My guess is that he's using his smaller resources in the lower-cost rural markets hoping to win the election in the hinterlands.

I'll not question the service of anyone who commanded troops in Iraq; especially a SpecOps unit.

Nor will I. However I will most assuredly question his actions upon returning, as he publicly criticizes the war effort while his own colleagues are still under fire. Just like I didn't make a big deal of Kerry's 'Nam time and exaggerated Purple Hearts. At least he was there "reporting for duty." But I absolutely detest his treasonous actions upon his return.

"When you tell people he just got back from Iraq, they stop and listen," said Timothy Burke, the chairman of the Democratic Party in Hamilton County, one of seven southern Ohio counties in the district. "He'd not have nearly as many people paying attention to him if it weren't for that initial grabber."

Beats telling people what he really does for a living. A trial lawyer.

calling President Bush a "chicken hawk"

Calling the President a child molester is a new, vile low for democrats.

You should get out more. You really didn't know that's what a chicken hawk is?

Yes, his unit falls under the Special Operations Command, but is a far cry from being a special operations unit in the field. More likely, he was there overseeing prosecutions of grunts who "murder" "freedom fighters" in "mosques", or those who "tortured" "mujahadeen" in Abu Ghraib prison. Sounds more like he was a player in "JAG" than a line officer. Typical democrat party MO.

Chicken Hawk

A Gay term for an older man that constantly chases after younger men typically in their 20's.

As LEO, chicken hawk is the slang for child molester or procurer of children.

In law enforcement circles, a "chicken hawk" is a pimp for boys and young men. The good folks at NAMBLA are stocked full of "Chicken Hawks" under this definition.

The Democrats just don't get it, they're prisoners of their own stereotyping and propaganda. They believe that the reason the American people vote for veterans (mainly Republicans) is because they have a simple-minded, jingoistic, "my country right or wrong" love of martial music, uniforms, and flag-waving. What they miss is that while there may well be a "ten-point veteran's preference" among the middle-American voter, the candidate must still espouse beliefs that a majority of his prospective constituents can live with. That's why a John Kerry can still get reelected in M'assachussetts, and why a John McCain can still win in Arizona. If this CA/Lawyer Hackett thinks that repeating talking points from the Michael Moore wing of the Democrat party is going to make his point in a Republican district, he's living proof of the "person who has himself as an attorney has a fool for a client" theory.

It says he was the commander of the unit. Just because a person is a lawyer in their civilian life doesn't mean they are a JAG for the army. Odds are that JAGs don't command CA units.

CA units are definitely into the grit of the everyday Iraqi population providing relief and collecting intel. They would not be in charge of prisons. That would be the domain of Military Police.

****Although Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations activities often complement each other, each battle system operates individually in support of field commanders. Civil Affairs soldiers are the field commander's link to the civil authorities in his area of operation. With specialists in every area of the government, they can assist a host government meet its people's needs and maintain a stable and viable civil administration.

Civil Affairs soldiers possess unique training, skills and experience. Since the majority of the Civil Affairs forces are in the Reserve component, these soldiers bring to the Army finely honed skills practiced daily in the civilian sector such as judges, physicians, bankers, health inspectors and fire chiefs.******

Since I don't know his mission (although it did say he commanded) with his CA unit, I will not address his military record.

His treatment of his commander in chief is all I need to know about him as a soldier.

I live in the second district. Hackett is running a Kerryesque campaign -- flaunting his military service while bashing the war -- "Did you know I was in Iraq"? (Sound familiar?) He is also a plaintiff's attorney, ala John Edwards. Hackett lives in Indian Hill, the wealthiest area of Cincinnati. Bottom line -- he is a dem/lib/socialist. Not getting my vote! BTW -- it's funny to see all of the Hackett bumper stickers alongside the Kerry/Edwards stickers on the Volvos, Saabs, and other yuppie cars!

Chicken hawks are people who recruit children for prostitution.

The Demoncrats have only recently appropriated it for their own use.

That alone has helped Mr. Hackett, a 43-year-old lawyer...

What kind of lawyer is he? The John Edwards variety?

Does he have movies of his bravery in Iraq that resulted in his being awarded medals and citations?

The NY Slimes can tout Hackett all they want. He's not going to carry the 2nd CD.
