MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - The United States renewed a travel warning on Tuesday for U.S. citizens crossing the border into Mexico, noting more than 100 murders had occurred in the border region since June.
The U.S. ambassador in Mexico, Tony Garza, said that with violence showing no sign of abating, the travel warning issued twice by Washington since the start of the year had been extended and would be reviewed as necessary.
One of the worst trouble spots is Nuevo Laredo, south of Laredo, Texas, where dozens of people have been murdered this year and some 30 U.S. citizens have been kidnapped since last August.

Gee...I wonder why I don't see this on the nightly news?...of course!....It doesn't support the media bias.
"....dozens of people have been murdered this year and some 30 U.S. citizens have been kidnapped since last August.""
Simple solution. Cut NAFTA by 5% for each American kidnapped or murdered. Fox's butt would pucker up so tight you couldn't pull a string through it with a tractor. Of course this will never happen until we get a Republican President that is willing to live by the Oath of Office he swore to us to uphold.
...Would'nt go to Mexico in anything less than an Abrams....
was it McLaim who said jokingly, " give Fox 10 million dollars, and for every illegal crossing over, we take away $10,000.....he'll stop this quickly...."
Bill O'Reilly had a couple of segments last year about problems with the Mexican Military. I knew Nuevo Laredo was a hotspot because there have been numerous reports about how violent it has become. However, I didn't know the numbers on the kidnappings. I think that alone should get as much national publicity as the Holloway story.
bump
I read the other day that Mexico is #2 behind Columbia with violence and kidnappings. There is no way I would go there. Even to their beautiful beaches. Why do people still vacation and spend their money down there? I don't get it....we have beautiful beaches here in the US.
Open borders, it's the next best thing...to murder.
Drug wars....hmm. Could explain some of the violence continuing in Afghanistan (the main drug "supplier" to Europe). The Afghans don't want us there disrupting their drug business.
No wonder Old Europe hates us -- we're depriving them of their illegal drugs, driving up price...
Start with this summary.

Ping!
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off this South Texas/Mexico ping list.
I live on the Northern border. If this was happening here it would be front page news every day. The FBI, RCMP, OPP and local police forces would be conducting an intensive operation . Tourism would be ZERO. Why is this tolerated on the Mexican-US border?
See post 32 as well.
Personally, I am against globalism and the steady march to a global form of governance. This where I have to part company with some of my "fellow" Republicans.
It is regrettable that there are certain "elements" in the U.S. that seek to reduce or eliminate U.S. National Sovereignty. In this realm we are 100% on the wrong track and the process needs to be interrupted and reversed. The problem is that the pro-Globalization elites have too much influence, for now.
It would be nice to see a President and a unified Congress one day bring an end to the seditious globalization movement.
Is the situation too far gone?
Yes.

Because Bush and Fox are in bed together. NAFTA, CAFTA, NWO, THE AMERICAN UNION (AU), Take your pick. U.S.A. will soon become absorbed into the "America's" and all that our brave founders fought and died for will be lost.
Every day I pray that Mr. Bush will announce a news conference and explain to us his reasons for ignoring the public on this issue. His silence is deafening.
