This is a relatively low level recon / logistics / planning team.

The jihadis will not go for a single catastrophic terror event similar to 9-11 unless they can equal or top it...meaning a WMD device in place. I think they will wait until Iran has the means to make and deliver a small scale nuclear device....which is probably 1-3 years off.

I believe , as does Porter Goss (in his testimony before Congress)...that such a device would be smuggled over the Mexican or Canadian (my bet is Mexican) border...they wont risk possible nuclear detectors at the port terminals. They could detonate it in a ship in a harbor...but that wont accomplish their goals of killing as many American children as possible. Radiation poisoning could kill over several generations.

Dirty bomb capability does exist NOW....as does the means to smuggle it into their country..using for example a mercenary group such as the MS-13 gang. My bet would be coordinated dirty bomb and/or chemical events at many major transportation centers and corridors...designed to cripple our movement of goods and people.

As to whether they will go for the distributed attack now...followed by the large scale attack later...or just skip the distributed and go for the big one is anyones guess...it depends on where Iran is at in their program.

Curious minds want to know...how DID these illegals get into the country?
