(Angus Reid Global Scan) More GOP supporters in the Sunshine State believe former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani would be a good presidential candidate, according to a poll by Strategic Vision. 28 per cent of respondents in Florida want Giuliani to be the Republican nominee in the 2008 election, a four per cent increase since June.
Current Florida governor Jeb Bush is second with 19 per cent, followed by Arizona senator John McCain with 17 per cent. Support is lower for former House of Representatives speaker Newt Gingrich, Tennessee senator Bill Frist, Virginia senator George Allen, Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum, Nebraska senator Chuck Hagel, and New York governor George Pataki.
In the 2004 election, Republican George W. Bush won Floridas 27 electoral votes with 52 per cent of all cast ballots. In 2000, weeks of recounts and court injunctions concluded in a 537-vote victory for Bush over Democrat Al Gore. Since 1972, the only Democrats to carry Florida in a presidential election are Jimmy Carter in 1976 and Bill Clinton in 1996.

But I don't see several other possible candidates for office even on this list.
Where is Rice? As far as Rudy is concerned, he hasn't got any more chance than Kerry.
Not that Kerry didn't come within one state of beating an incumbent President, but Rudy wouldn't even win his own state, and that's the way to lose big time.
Any ticket with Rice on it will counter the beast.
And don't say there's no difference.
There's a huge difference.
Rudy can't beat her.
"or to each against his own"
That's just it, JZ, I don't consider "moderate" to left-leaning candidates to be my "own", even if they have an R after their name. I'm a conservative, not a Republican.
They must be polling down in Miami and the southern part of the state.
What's her position on the issues. We know where she stands on foreign policy but Americans vote on domestic issues. Being a black female won't get her the nomination her positions on the issues will determine her electability.
I'll be voting with you.
Despite all of the prattle about RINOs and such, allowing her to become POTUS and rule for 8 years with the constant drumbeat of the MSM and her ACLU buds would devastate this country.
George Allen is my choice.
That may be the conservative list but none of these men are electable against Hillary, in my opinion.
Giuliani is certainly more electable than these four conservatives.
Well he is your "own" .... senator, which is what I meant in that particular context.
And I think exactly the opposite. A pro-gay pro-abortion anti-gun nominee would certainly result in President Hillary and maybe a Democrat House and Senate as well. Conservative turnout and motivation would take a huge hit.
That I would suppose, depends on the other half, but I doubt that she would help Rudy win.
I have no problem with Allen/Rice.
But I like it the other way, as well. Rice/Allen.
It's just too soon to tell.
The dems, however, need the MSM drumbeat for years to pursue their agenda.
I guess I'll have count on Republicrat congresscritters to keep her agenda locked up in Congress, then. I am NOT voting for Pataki or Guiliani. If they are the candidates, the South will abandon 'em and its Hillary! for President. Its up to the GOP to police its candidates.
NO RINO's. Period. That is one of the dumber things the GOP could do to ensure a Hillary victory in '08.
Aside from being pro-gay, pro-choice, and anti-gun is he ELECTABLE?
Isn't that all most Republicans care about anyway?
If this list is the best the GOP can offer, the death throes are further advanced than I thought.
FReepers do but I'm not so sure about the general public. I mean the 50 percent of the general public who even bother. They pay more attention to the candidates wife than they do the candidates stance on foreign affairs. Let's be honest most Americans couldn't tell you who the Secretary of State is. Also the press will make Condi's husband problem an issue. That's an issue your average couch potato, reality show watching American can get their minds around.
Well, I don't see either of them getting it.
As far as locking her up in congress, nothing that I have seen in the last 6 years would lead me to that conclusion.
