The usual suspects who are either pro-abortion or don't really care are lining up behind Rudy.
But I think y'all will find that abortion, marriage, and the Second Amendment mean a whole lot to the base of the Republican Party.
Of course Rudy will get plaudits for travelling the country campaigning for conservatives. But when he proposes setting himself up as the liberal ruler, it'll be thanks but no thanks.
The real question if that happens is, what would be the alternative (i.e. which 'Rat would get elected if Rudy didn't)? I would be very surprised if the 'Rat candidate was a better candidate than Rudi. Very surprised indeed.
In any case, it's still July 2005. We are 2.5 years from the first primary. Many things can happen in that time to change the political landscape -- for example, Shrillary could melt.
Rudy is well aware of that. He has been talking to real conservatives all over the place and is well aware of those issue that are important to Conservatives. He has said that 9/11 and his cancer has changed him. We will see how much he has changed when and IF he runs!
Thankfully, the election is many years away which gives real conservative candidates time to build their name recognition. That all this survey was about anyway.
I agree. But of the list of candidate that are up there I would rather wait to see if someone new comes out. I don't like any of them!
You didn't read my post at all. Abortion is of CRITICAL importance to me, which is why Bush's tenure has been so utterly dissapointing to me. Supporting the fetal cannibal Specter over Toomey, not even proposing to cut a single penny from the Planned Parenthood vampires, no programs proposed to fund 3D ultrasounds, which Patricia Heaton is spending $1 million of her own money to finance. How is this "promoting a culture of life".
Bush has uttered lots of words, but where are the deeds on abortion? Partial Birth...that's IT. That's all we get. Even Giuliani suports that. and I promise you'll never hear Rudy utter the words "Religion of Peace" or ever take his shoes off in a mosque.

I liked Governor Owens of Colorado, but he successfully shot himself in both feet and will not be in the mix. Allen has been a governor of a southern state, a good background if you want to win, but I don't know all that much about him yet. No one else comes to mind.
How the hell did Jeb even make it on the list? I know they polled Florida but the last this country needs is another Bush. Let's be honest with all of the missing/raped/murdered kids in Florida Jeb really hasn't had a good year not to mention the Shiavo fiasco.
Giuliani couldn't care less about gay issues or "reproductive rights". Don't confuse New York politics with his personal feelings. I happened to know quite a lot about the man that most do not. He has a singular focus---law and order. It has defined his life. He hates two groups more than anyone else...organized crime and Arabs. Sounds good to me.

I won't vote for a RINO. President Bush is about as "moderate" as I can stand - and he's pushin' it.
Not Thrilled About Allen - he's kinda dull from what I"ve seen. I'm not thrilled with anyone but most of the Republicans at this point are just doing their jobs right now and are not out there running. Once the candidates (whomever they may be) are out running, their personalities will start to stand out. But whomever is the candidate I will vote for that person. I will NOT stay home to let Hillary or any Democrat win the White House!

You're kidding right? Why didn't "Mr Singular Focus" know about all of the corruption Kerik was into? It was right under his nose for crying out loud. If he intends to run he'll have to answer those questions.
Kerik's dealings with Taser came post-Rudy. And was Giuliani supposed to have P.I.'s tracking Kerik to hotel room to see who he was sleeping with? what are you talking about?
Yep...the FR consensus is a tiny minority. Giuliani or McCain, take your pick. Either one will thrash Hillary in a general election - so much so that I doubt she will even run if she thinks she will be facing one of them. On the other hand if, say, a Sam Brownback emerged as a probable nominee, Hillary would be able to paint herself as the moderate alternative, and she would be very likely to win.
I believe Giuliani would make a very able and capable President. The affair stuff won't hurt him a bit if Hillary (or almost any other Democrat, for that matter) is his opponent. He is not an activist on social conservative issues - neither is Bush...neither was Reagan - a perfect understanding of why we are at war, and, I suspect, a fiscally disciplined manager who could take some of his New York City quality-of-life improvements national. I see him as more conservative than Bush on border security and government spending.
Agreed. It worries me to hear so many conservatives say that they would stay home. A RINO can be influenced by congress and it is essential that we maintain control there and elect more conservatives. I don't doubt that Hitlery will be the rat nominee. She will scare me to the polls regardless of who our nominee is.
As for Allen, for some reason the current available pool of conservatives are charisma challenged. Many Americans vote based on personality. I hope we can find someone with conservative credentials and personality. That's why I liked Owens. Too bad about him.

So you don't think Rudy had any knowledge of Kerik's "character flaws"? Come on now he was his right hand man. If he could work that closely with a man for years not knowing he's dirty, then endorse him to be the nations Secretary of Homeland Defense, that alone should disqualify him from running.
