Now that he's being paid by the DNC, he's nothing but a paid hack.
See the Larry Johnson op ed posted at FR on 9/11/01

Mark Levin read this dumba$$es OP-Ed piece in the NY Slimes from 07/2001 in which he basically said terrorism was not a threat to the US....the guy is a complete leftist....dying to get a copy of the Op-ed so I can fax it to chuck schiester's office...
Larry seems like the type of Republican who votes for Democrats.
It is all starting to come back to me now.
Larry is a "myth maker", he has been out there for decades. He is likely still "active".
I have to go up stairs and dig into my books.
What a thing is can never be what it appears to be if it is to have effect.
We discussed ol' Lar on the Sunday Talk Show thread yesterday. I did a little research on the web.
Did you know that Larry and Valerie went to CIA school together? I thought that was an interesting little tidbit.
Here's the thread (post #261 if you want to see the links to Larry.

I don't know about you guys but I think that Larry Johnson has had is 15 minutes of fame and people should stop giving him any further air time.
There's no need to elevate this guy into anything more than he is.
Here is some additional background info on some of these former CIA agents:

Larry Johnson. Useful stooge comes to mind.
He sure was great to watch at UNLV, though...
It is unfair to accuse Larry Johnson of having a pre 9/11 mindset pre 9/11. I will admit that I had a pre 9/11 mindset pre 9/11. I've changed. It would be interesting to see if Larry Johnson has.
Who is Larry Johnson? He's the author of one of the more poorly timed op-eds in history. On July 10, 2001, he wrote in the New York Times under the headline "The Declining Terrorist Threat" that "Americans have little to fear" from terrorism unless they travel or work in a few of the world's hotspots.
He added that "Early signs suggest that the decade beginning in 2000 will continue the downward trend" in terrorist activity. (He co-authored a similar piece for this page in 2000.)
A month earlier, and only three months before 9/11, Mr. Johnson told U.S. News and World Report that "Bin Laden has an international network of contacts, but it's more analogous to the Elvis Presley fan club than a corporation like General Motors."
What an idiot!
This guy was a building contractor and working on a building somewhere the US was very interested in. They offered him a CIA position to see what info they could get out of him. The CIA was using him just to get it, and that's why his CIA job only lasted a few years.
That could explain his over bragging about being a 007 "really cool dude". It was the biggest thing that ever happened to him.
I'll keep searching, but if any FReepers already have this info book marked, could you FReep mail me? Thanks.
I wonder why so many of these government civil service types have to lie and say that they're Republicans.
Larry Johnson is the poor man's Joe Wilson, and the blubberphobic's Michael Moore. If you can't afford to have Joe speak at your rubber chicken dinner, Larry is available. If you need some Bushbashing Trilateral Commission Conspiracy-theorizin' done but can't provide all the food on Michael Moore's contract rider, call Lar!
There's more info on Larry Johnson in the FR thread below that deals with his group, VIPS, trying to get current CIA agents to break secrecy.
