Duh! I am too stoopid to understand this analogy. (Summarizing a number of previous posts)

I often thought that what if Hitler was a good man instead of a monster, and did good instead of evil. He would be the greatest man in history but for the Lord Jesus Christ.

Claiming 'WWII POW camps ARE just like Gitmo' is particularly silly, since the Germans captured in WWII who were fighting without uniforms and without regard for the requirements of the Geneva Convention were hung quickly so they didn't have months to pray to their God and toss their Scriptures in the toilet. They were more concerned about meeting their Maker than about flushing His Word down the john for p.r. purposes.

I'm not sure that Hitler could have accomplished much good. At most he could have been credited with resurrecting the German economy. I'm not sure what else he had the talent to accomplish other than being an insane dictator.

You are most likely right but I really did think these thoughts over the years.

quite an accurate analogy.
take the Koran.
strip it of all the arabesque figures of speech.
replace all iterations and variations of "Muhammed" "Prophet" "Allah" etc... with the words "the Leader"
Compare results with a transcript of the Nurnburg Rally.

What if Superman worked for the Nazis.

"I am Ueberman, I fight for untruth, injustice and the Nazi way. And with my x-ray vision I can see that Jimmy Olsen is a Jew, I'll drop him off at the camp on my way to the Eastern Front."

HOW DARE YOU COMPARE TO FÜHRER TO A MERE DEITY !!

(Turns and gives the 'charge' signal to crowd of angry townsfolk with pitch-forks, bill-hooks, rakes, etc)

"After them !"

(General melée develops, like the last scenes of "Blazing Saddles")

It might be that the point fell way short.

Sorry Chief, but the crew got it. The article didn't intent to promote the notion that Hitler was a god, but if he had claimed that status, we would have looked mighty stupid to provide the material that we do for Muslims.

Hitler was the anti-Christ, but since no one but God knows when Jesus will return, Satan send an anti-Christ every generation just in case its time.

The crew got what? A horrid stretch of the imagination?

Bottom line is that we are providing the prisoners in GITMO the exact same thing we did the prisoners in WWII...the materials for them to practise their religion...not their politics.

Well in case you haven't noticed, in the case of Islam, they are the same thing.

The only real barrier to the truth, is believing you already have it. Any idea how we treated the Japanese, concerning their religion? Remember they worshipped the Emperor.

What do you think would happen if a Christian cult decided they needed a prayer call 5 times a day, and asked the army to provide notice and all the materials to observer that? If you think that would actually happen then there is no need for further discussion, you already know everything.

I'd treat Mein Kampf like it was a box of magically delicious chocolates while they were around

Of course you would. You're an appeaser, for one thing. And since you don't believe in anything very strongly, you naturally bend to the slightest whiff of prevailing winds that rattle your rickety, frightened, pathetic little boat.

Amazing, really: a person admits they'd treat the Nazis, and all their attendant horrors, with the exquisite tenderness of a "box of magically delicious chocolates" through the numerous outrages against human decency they committed for all the time "they were around."

Very telling, and quite disgusting.
