ARTICLE SNIPPET: "According to investigators, the letters, sent by mail, said the hospitals would be bombed within 45 days. There were no demands.

The Metropolitan Police Department has launched investigations into the case.

The police have stepped up security in Tokyo due to terrorism fears in the days leading up to Sept. 11 House of Representatives election."
