BROWNSVILLE
Customs Agent Faked Immigration Document, Lied
Jul 25, 2005, 4:33 PM A Customs and Border Protection supervisor Monday admitted he lied about preparing and authorizing a fake immigration form.
Fifty-two-year-old Natalio Ortega pleaded guilty in Brownsville to knowingly making a materially false statement to investigating agents.
The feds say Ortega prepared and issued an I-94 form, which indicates legal immigration status, to a non-citizen.
He accompanied the illegal immigrant with the document to the Sarita checkpoint in October of 2002 -- where agents became suspicious.
Ortega in 2003 admitted lying about having knowledge of the form to investigating agents.
He was arrested May second and has been free on $50,000 bond. Sentencing is October 24th. Ortega faces up to five years in federal prison and a $250,000.

Breaking federal immigration law and getting away with it is not what it used to be . .

"According to a federal grand jury indictment, Natalio Ortega lied to Department of Homeland Security investigators on June 17, 2003, about issuing an immigration visa to Felix Jaime Alvarez Cavazos in Brownsville."
Any idea what happened to Cavazos?

I wonder how many others got into the country with a forged document from Natalio Ortega. Money corrupts. No doubt about it.

Ortega faces up to five years in federal prison and a $250,000. He should get 10 years.

Will this conviction become a precedent? I expect a plea to a lower charge.

Another career ruined over protecting illegal aliens and breaking federal immigration law. There's always a hispanic name involved in these crimes.

One of my agents arrested an illegal yeterday who's wife is a Customs trainee at the Academy in Glynco. If only America knew just how really screwed up the system is.

"integrity on the job?"
Integrity on the job is impossible if a person doesn't have it 24/7.
