Brazilian electrician Jean Charles de Menezes was shot eight times by anti-terror police at Stockwell Tube station, it has emerged.
Mr de Menezes, 27, died on Friday, the day after the failed suicide bombings on London's transport network.
Details of how he died were confirmed by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

Well, if they were afraid this guy had a bomb on him, they don't want him twitching on it's trigger. Still, a pity.

But I have not seen any explanation as to why he was living in a house that was under surveillance; why he did not stop and freeze when told to; why he jumped the turnstile, etc. All suspicious behavior.
And all the folks back home who said he was such a good boy--yadayadayada--how do they know he was not a convert of some crazy Imam??
His behavior was so wrong (wearing a heavy coat in mid-70s weather, running, refusing to stop, jumping over a turnstile) that it might almost have been "suicide by cop."
That will teach him to let his visa expire.
They don't know. Guy sure acted guilty of something. Wonder if there was something incriminating he ditched as he ran...that has not been located yet...or at least admitted to being located.
What was the ammo they used? 9mm FMJ? JHP's or HydraShocks in 40S&W or 10mm would work so much better.

However, I totally support the decision of the agents to shoot to protect.
I don't think he was innocent. I think the cops are giving him the benefit of the doubt because they lack anything particularly substantial. This guy wasn't innocent.
It was an apartment block not a house, he was living in the same apartment building that was all.

it is starting to look like he may have had "visa irregularities" but still a tragedy. He should have just stopped he would be alive now.

he was a Brazilian catholic police have ruled him out of any possible involvement.
A prior story showed his address was in some of the documents they found on the unsuccessful bombers the day before.
