But Savage was just saying last week that he'd beat Rush and Hannity??? Remember? He said Drudge wouldn't cover it 'cause he's on that same network?
Now I have to wonder, is Savage just dumb, or a liar, or both?
(If what I just wrote makes you sad or angry,
Savage might have won on the 12:05-12:10 PM time slot. He wishes he was better than Rush or Levine. 50% of his show is about him complaining about Drudge, Rush and his ratings
I use to like Savage when he was a true conservative. I started having my doubts when he attacked Ann Coulter NOT as a Republican but as a 'conservative'. I mean, knowing that Savage is an independent conservative I gave him the benefit of the doubt. After all, I too am an independent. But then he attacked Ann Coulter as a "conservative elite" saying that she's no different than the "liberal elite". That struck me strange. I now wonder if a) Savage is pulling a Bill Oreilly by trying to appease the democrats every other show for the ratings, or b) he's a fake.
Furthermore, there are radio hosts that may be open to attack (those that talk about other hosts) but Rush is not a radio host that talks about other conservative hosts(unless it's praise)yet Savage attacked him. I noted the next day there was a quick mention of Savage on Rush in an interview with the author of the 100 People Destroying America. Rush's comment was something like, "never heard the man but I've heard of him and he sounds like a nut case"
I vote for dumb and a liar.
He's a lying POS scumbag. I bet he won't mention THIS on his show.
I remember that. Now for the rest of the story. Talk radio is about business, egos, and competition.
His point was that both Rush's and Hannity's numbers had dropped. His numbers had increased. Thus in that context he "beat" both.
Yes he did accuse Drudge of "spiking" that aspect of the story.
Why do I care?
Because I remember how hard it was to find opinions to counter the Rockefeller Republicans and liberals of the three networks, the newspapers, and the weekly news magazines - for the average Bill six-pack (or two).
Especially irritating was getting access to stories that were spiked by the MSM. My letters of complaint to the networks got nothing but dismissals because "we're professional journalists and you're not."
Were I and my friends alone? No, if I judge by the early days of modern talk radio. I cannot count the number of times callers told the host, "I didn't know other people believed as I believe!" "I didn't know that anyone else knew that!" "You're saying what I been thinking for years!"
Then a few years ago I heard a long interview with Dr. Hazlett when he was still at U.C. Davis. I found out why the likes of Larry King and liberal puff radio existed -- Larry King to caller, "You're against the tax increase? Don't you love your Country?" -- but not the Joe Pynes of America and damn few local conservative talkers.
I don't want to see the hatred of Savage lead back to those dark days. Let him sink on his own if it is to be. We don't need encouragement for laws targeting a "lunatic." IMO.
BTW: Mr. Mark Levin is a favorite guest on KSFO's Lee Rodgers and Melanie Morgan show. I certainly would listen to his show, a good time would be to replace the O'Reilly show on Sacramento's AM 650 -- though I'd miss John Gibson's fill in. Yes it would be a delayed broadcast in that case.
"Now I have to wonder, is Savage just dumb, or a liar, or both?"
I would have to say he is both, yet I have listened to him - you have to be in the right mood. I turn him off when he starts tearing apart Republicans which is about every five to ten minutes. Must a his audience are Bush haters.
