Today's New York Post lists the top 20 talkers in New York based on average numbers of listeners listening at any given moment. Franken beats Savage.

Well the Bush administration gives the UN fits, without the tin foil.
Getting back to the point of the thread, I don't like Savage because, while he's right quite a bit, he comes off as a whiny b!tch. Do you get Laura Ingraham and John Batchelor out by you? They're my favorites
Ruh roh, you are shooting the messenger, in this case it's correct. Weiner(savage) is a "former" leftist, and was a follower of allan ginsberg, and IMO, he does a disservice to conservatives with his rants. Hell I listened to him while this thread was first posted and he was praising hillary.
I don't get either Laura or Batchelor on local radio, but I do get Quinn. His shows are archived at the link below. His co-host Rose is like liver and onions, you either like her or you can't stand her.
:-)
:-)
The fact that Stern is number one proves how effed up people are.
Franken beats Savage. :-) I'm not surprised. I just heard Savage say democrats were just like Repoublicans - no real difference. Then he took a lady caller who was an obvious liberal shill saying Bush was bowing to the God of Halliburton and corporations. Savage while not agreeing with everything she said, said he agreed with some of it and kept going with the call. As I pulled into the garage I heard Savage say she was an intelligent lady who had a good grasp of the bigger picture.
Bottom line - Michael Savage is evidence that if you go too far right you might end up with the Naderites.
I don't think anyone is rejoicing that Franken beats Savage for ratings. Freepers are rejoicing that Franken and Savage are getting crap ratings because both windbags spend their air time bashing Republicans and remain silent about the rats.
Thank you. With 28 posts in just 7 months...some posts comprising 2 or even more sentences...it will be hard to replace your contribution to the debate. Good bye.
Arbitron ratings are to the radio industry what boxoffice receipts are judging movie ratings. The New Yak Post list is total crap.
The May ratings show WOR jumps from 2.6 to 3.1, good for 12th place, again showing where Savage has been a boost for the station.
Suck eggs New Yak Post! Rupert couldn't even make his own son stay as CEO of that rag. Now those nincompoops who would be reporters want to pretend they know the radio business. Even New York City birds avoid the New Yak Post, because of its' stink - and we're supposed to bow to their horse puckie? Give me a break.
Don't be fooled by a lousy trash liner.
If book sales were to be factored into this alleged list, the public's respect for Michael Savage could not be avoided. With three best sellers - the third book has been on the best-seller list of the NYT for sixteen weeks - his rating would be a brainier.
Savage is saying it like America is talking about it, unlike the president and the entire Congress. He is concise, without pretension, and caustic about the sell-out, and indifference of those who pretend to be our representatives.
Do New York City a favor New Yak Post, and p!ss-off!!!
LOL! Why would they factor book sales into radio numbers? Get a grip!
I don't really like Savage but I must say that he was very supportive of Rush in the early days of the drug thing. It was a kind thing to do, and I appreciated it.
But really, Savage is mostly a whack job.

You have a very low esteem for conservative independents who are making his books bestsellers. Three bestsellers in a row. He's is writing what Americans are thinking, and they are proving it with the expenditure of their expendable income. Pretty damn good for someone you hold in contempt.
"Now I have to wonder, is Savage just dumb, or a liar, or both?"
I would have to say he is both, yet I have listened to him - you have to be in the right mood. I turn him off when he starts tearing apart Republicans which is about every five to ten minutes. Must a his audience are Bush haters.
I used to pull in Savage's original weekend show from KGO, San Francisco, back in 1994. I was out in the middle of the Arizona desert and he caught my attention one night. He was daring lesbians to call him on the phone to tell him why they didn't want a man. It was outrageous and hillarious.
If I'm in a bad mood and rush hour I'll alternate between Savage and Hewitt. Hugh has this sicky sweet lady taking his place right now and if she doesn't have a male co-host protector, the libs call and beat the snot out of her verbally. Makes for really bad radio.
As for Savage, I don't know whether he'll have staying power. My brother hates Bush and has become an Independent because of open borders and gas prices. He loves Savage and quotes him constantly.
But Rush said a long time ago that negative people are a turnoff. Savage stokes himself up into a frothing negativity bordering on hopelessness. There are times he gets so dreary and hopeless he becomes tonguetied. Plus it's one thing to hear Rush's tongue in cheek braggodocio and quite another to hear Savage's massive unhindered ego.
Hannity is the one I can't stand. His program is often stupid and unlistenable. His opposition to racial profiling makes him part of the politically correct establishment. He was arguing this point with a guy on the air the other day, and sounding like a typical mushheaded New York lib, even insinuating the guy was a racist. What kind of conservative is that? And then he's always playing to the ladies and doing schtick with bad impressionists. I will not listen to him anymore. Savage's nickname, "Sean Vannity" is very appropriate.
As for Rush, he's a living legend.
Well, of course he has fans... apparently 64,000-odd in New York alone. I don't agree with them. Big deal.
I simply wanted to mention that at one time Savage was gracious. Won't make that mistake again! LOL!
Pity the source.
You're right. He's a fruitcake. If you let yourself go emotionally too right or too left you end up with Savage, Michael Moore and the other nutcases. I wouldnt trust him with the keys to my car.
This is based on what he said in self-analysis on his Friday show: Gruff, angry, yelling drives listeners away, mellow attracts listeners.
He's also a hypocrit and a coward. When he loses it he oftens calls people homo's (without even knowing their status). Yet Friday a gay person called and he was quite friendly with them on the air.
It would be good to see transcripts of Savage's show if they exist.
There is not much real info in his show. It's mostly polemics against some unknown enemy.
You are so far off the mark.
