The coining of "Aruba Disorder" and the phrase "Rape fits the profile of this island," also fits Pitchairn Island, recalling its recent court case and island history of rape, as much in common with Aruba. Although the two islands are oceans (and hemispheres) apart, it does seem there may be a like mentally of living isolated from things continental.

I think we need to study Pitchairn for clues here. Not me, of course. My intention span is only fifteen seconds long. But the problem is not limited to the Caribbean.

Well, D@mn you...I had to hunt for my reading glasses. I hadn't thought of your point but it is brilliant. We are all aware of the insular beauty of Pitcairn Island and its vulnerability...but I hadn't thought of the parallel. Stay in here...your input is needed.

Here is a link to the case I think Looois is referring to:

Looois is right...very interesting parallels here.

This murder took place on Norfolk Island, which is related to Pitcairn. Article interesting as it explores the island mentality with regard to an outside investigative corps coming in and 'tarnishing' their reputation:

I just read in the last two weeks the Alexander book on the Truth about Mutiny on the Bounty and got interested in Pitcairn. Odd you should mention it! It is fascinating. Sort of a perversion of Polynesian mores by Brits. It is an interesting sociological story and hard to get info. I read all the news articles on the sex abuse stories but there is nothing in great depth written, yet.

There is a story on Aruba that is the context for all of this case and I have said this from thread one. I wish someone would get interested after this is over and write it. It is way more interesting and gripping than the Nat case, as gripping as that is. We are seeing the tip of the iceberg here.
