I rented a bike and did the same thing! It's the best beach experience I've ever had and free of tourist crowds. 'Went there twice and would go again any time.

A B-47 bomber jettisoned the weapon over Wassaw Sound in February 1958 after it collided with an F-86 fighter jet during a training exercise. Military officials gave the bomber pilot permission to drop the weapon after he could not safely land the plane with it on board.

I think Jug and Beth believe that Aruban LE are finally getting caugh up to what they (the Twitty's) already know. There is a "wow" factor in the details that the Twitty's have, which they will reveal once the investigation is over. They guarantee that the world will be shocked by the facts as they know them.

Glad you don't go there anymore. My wife's family reunion was at Tybee a couple of years ago and I refused to go. Paranoid, I guess.
The elimination half-life of caffeine is 4 to 5 hours so I'll go back to lurking in a little while.

I hear you about the "weaning". I'm doing a gradual withdrawal myself, fewer hits to the thread each day. I'm currently hung up on why they wouldn't have checked the landfill. Unreal.

Aruba pond drained in search for teen - CNN

PALM BEACH, Aruba (CNN) -- Police are draining a flood pond near a beach where two brothers say they dropped off Natalee Holloway and a judge's son on the day the missing Alabama teen disappeared.

Searchlights guided Aruban firefighters overnight as they pumped at least 3,600 gallons of water a minute, or two inches an hour. The pumping began about 9 p.m. Tuesday, a spokesman at the scene told CNN.

Authorities said Wednesday it may take days to fully drain the catch basin.

The catch basin did not contain water when Holloway disappeared but filled with rain as Hurricane Emily brushed the island last week. After the basin is drained, authorities expect to dredge the bottom.

Earlier Tuesday, two law enforcement sources close to the investigation told CNN a local gardener gave them information about the pond that made them want to search it for Holloway's body.

from SM

Michelle Kasinski (sp?) on MSNBC is standing in front of the pond. Says it will take all day to drain.

Footage of Joran seems to only be of the back of his head.

The court says there is something wrong with the taking of the samples. It wasn't done properly. There was something wrong legally.

The gardener was driving through the field (taking a shortcut) to the dirt road. Deepak's car was blocking the road.

I suspect that the reason they are draining the pond is because they are looking for a murder weapon, most likely a knife. In my travels in the Caribbean and Central America I have noticed that it is very common for young men in particular to carry knives. And it wouldn't have to be very big either. Remember, O.J. killed two people with a Swiss Army knife.

Hasibokos.com - Natalee Holloway a wòrdu asesiná ? (2)

UPDATE 38 : Aruban officials began draining a pond Tuesday night in the search for Natalee Holloway. The pond was near the Aruban Raquet Club and is where two brothers said they dropped her and Joran van der Sloot off on May 30th. An eyewitness came forward and reported that he saw the car of Deepak Kalpoe stationed near the pond. According to the witness Satish Kalpoe and Joran van der Sloot were present as well the night he saw them there. The eyewitness reported that he saw Joran sitting behind the wheel. Most people find this strange because the mother of Deepak reported various times that Deepak treated his car like his girlfriend and wouldn’t let anyone drive it (expect for his brother). Most times he wouldn’t even take his car to work because he did not want it to get scratched while parked. According to AweMeinta it will take between 24 to 72 hours to drain the whole pond. Meanwhile, the 18-year-old's mother has announced a $1 million reward for her daughter's safe return. Beth Holloway Twitty made the announcement yesterday that the reward from $200,000 has been raised. There is also $100,000 reward in place for information leading to Holloway's remains

I find it interesting that the person eligible for receiving the million dollar reward will be given anonymity. There must be a lot of fear on that island to shield a person in this way.

Aruban authorities draining pond in teen's disappearance

By Margaret Wever The Associated Press

ORANJESTAD, Aruba — Investigators trying to determine what happened to Natalee Holloway focused their search efforts today on a pond near where the former Mississippi teen was last seen nearly two months ago.

Authorities used a large pump to drain the pond across from the Marriott Hotel while investigators await the results of DNA analysis from labs in the Netherlands and the United States.

Authorities would not discuss the purpose of draining the pond, but confirmed it was part of the investigation into Holloway's disappearance on May 30 — the final night of a graduation trip to the Dutch Caribbean island with a high school group from Mountain Brook, Ala. Holloway attended junior high school in Clinton, Miss., before moving to Alabama.

Authorities said the draining operation was expected to be finished later today.

Holloway's stepfather, George Twitty, who was at a nearby hotel waiting for results of the search, said police asked the family not to watch as they worked behind a fence to clear the water.

"It's the first time the fire department, the police and other authorities have collaborated on such a huge search," the stepfather said today. "So they must know something. ... There's so much commotion, they must have a lead."

Holloway's mother, Beth Holloway Twitty, also said she was hopeful.

"I'm very encouraged about moving forward, and hopefully finding some answers that we've been waiting for, for a long time, and everyone has been," she said on ABC's "Good Morning America."

The activity came a day after Holloway's stepfather said two new witnesses had come forward with information about the night the 18-year-old from Mountain Brook, Ala., disappeared.

One witness told investigators that he saw Joran van der Sloot, the 17-year-old Dutch youth who has been detained as the main suspect, driving to a tennis club across the road from the Marriott around 2:30 a.m. the night Holloway disappeared, Twitty said.

The witness said van der Sloot tried to hide his face with his hands as he drove to the Racquet Club with two Surinamese brothers, Satish and Deepak Kalpoe, Twitty said. The Kalpoe brothers were detained as suspects and later released.

The stepfather said the account is significant because it places the three individuals near the hotel beach where van der Sloot says he left Holloway alone the last night she was seen in public.

"What's interesting is the time — 2:30 a.m. — when the three were supposedly on their way home," said Twitty, referring to their previous accounts to investigators.

The witness, a gardener whose name was not disclosed, gave his account to investigators Friday, Twitty said.

The Kalpoe brothers first told police that they and van der Sloot dropped Holloway at her hotel around 2 a.m. the morning of May 30. Later, they said they had lied to protect their friend and that they had dropped the Dutch youth and Holloway at a beach near the hotel.

A second new witness told a private investigator hired by Holloway's family that she saw van der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers drive into the Racquet Club three times that same night. The woman, who lives nearby, has not yet spoken with investigators, he said.

Aruban authorities did not comment on the stepfather's statements.

An attorney for van der Sloot, Richie Kock, said authorities had not told him about the new witnesses. Lawyers for the Kalpoe brothers were not immediately available for comment.

Aruban authorities said this week that they have dispatched a prosecutor to consult with the FBI and brought in experts from the Netherlands as they investigate the disappearance.

Aruban investigators sent hair found attached to duct tape discovered along the shore of the island to the FBI crime lab in Quantico, Va., and to the Netherlands for DNA analysis.

The family on Monday increased the reward for information leading to the young woman's safe return to $1 million, from $200,000.

No one has been charged in the case, and van der Sloot is the only suspect still detained.

Holloway vanished after an evening of eating, drinking and dancing at a nightclub which she left with the three young men, hours before she was to catch a flight home at the end of a graduation trip with 124 classmates.

I heard that last night, also. And I heard Greta say that another network has the statement from JVDS where he says that Deepak killed Natalie. What network? CNN? Why haven't they released it?

Jug says that there is forensic evidence that we don't know about and the facts that they have will shock the world.
