MONTEREY, Calif. - A former administrator at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey has been indicted in Virginia on a felony bigamy charge.

Charles Edward Hicks, 61, was married to a total of seven women over the last 40 years, according to court records. Three of the marriages took place while he was married to someone else, according to the records.

The charge followed a complaint from a Virginia woman who said she discovered in April two years after marrying Hicks that he was still married to another woman at the time. That woman, a former resident of Marina, north of Monterey, has also filed a bigamy complaint with the San Benito County Sheriff's Department, authorities said.

Hicks, who currently lives in Virginia, worked at the Naval Postgraduate School from 1995 to 2000.

Bigamy is punishable in Virginia by two to 10 years in prison. Hicks is due in court Sept. 13.

Rut-Roh. This boy is in a heap of trouble. A bigamist three different times. Oh Boy. Hope he has deep pockets, otherwise he'll be sleeping in a cardboard box on the beach....Maybe even if he does have deep pockets.

He'll deserve it too. If he wants more than one woman at a time, the only honorable thing is to let them both know about the arrangement.

So? Who are we to make a moral judgment of some ones else's life style choice? I cannot believe the intolerance on this thread!
This is no one else's business. It's his private life. He should be demanding his Constitutional rights!
This is nothing but gender discrimination toward this poor man. (sarcasm, of course)

(If he were a homosexual polygamist, he'd be considered a hero.)

I have to think about this.

It can't be the same guy, there's no way this guy was 61. or was he?

I'm so glad the military did a thorough background check on this guy and allowed him to keep his job all these years.

Yes, isn't it wonderful what our tax money pays to have working as a civililan for the Department of Defense? And, furthermore he also has a security clearance and from my understanding that has been suspended pending the outcome of his trial. About time, don't you think? Unbelievable.

I know his latest victim. She was used by him like all the other women. She is the lucky one to be able to walk away before her whole life was destroyed by him. He needs to get big time jail sentence!!!!! It is scary that he had a security clearance!!!!

Yes, he needs a big time jail sentence all right...to keep him from ever doing this to someone else. It is scary he has a security clearance and how he got one; he is scary. He sounds like a psychopath to me and you know they can never be rehabilitated.
