Yea, I suppose so, but I like to think of myself as a suspicious looking character. It hurt my feelings...

You still don't get it.

Suspicious looking character...profiling...bad

Suspicious looking package...
bomb, run, yell, wave hand in air

(this holds even if package was put in place by a suspicious looking character

Can aybody tell me exactly what a suspicious package looks like?

1. An unattended suitcase in an airport, train station, bus station, shipyard, etc.

2. A closed cardboard box, unattended in an airport, train station, bus station, shipyard, etc.

3. A creamy white block of unknown pliable material with wires attached to a car battery in a series with a digital alarm clock and a relay switch?

My company rents a building that is part of a complex built by a provider of electrical power. I worked as a consultant for said provider, so I know that one of the four buildings in the complex contains the personnel and the equipment they use to release electricity onto the grid and to monitor same. So, they are sort of sensitive about those buildings.

A suspicious package is any package left unclaimed for even a couple of minutes in a public area. I've watched the bomb squad hustle the packages out of the building into the courtyard more than once. I always send all my personnel to the other side of the building. At least if a bomb goes off they are not sitting in a room full of glass on the blast side.

I know, I'm just being a wiseacre! I find it silly that they tell us conststentlty to be on the lookout of 'suspicious' stuff, without much being said as to exactly what we are supposed to be looking for, that's all.

I am afraid that Londoners got what they asked for in Red Ken. I have yet to hear any criticism of him, coming from England.

...London mayor Ken Livingstone's rhetoric(whose rhetoric sounds exactly like pat Buchanan's rhetoric, i.e it's America's and Israel's fault) only eggs the islamofascists on.

It's the same type of tortured logic that suggests a woman was raped because she was "asking for it."

We had bomb threats for awhile. Management actually sent around a memo with questions to ask the bomber if we happened to get the call. Like - where is the bomb? where are you? what is your name? where are you calling from? what does the bomb look like?

My daughter worked at a bank - she says someone calling in a bomb threat actually started answering the questions!!!

Hopefully it is a false alarm. Bump.

At this point, since they have evacuated the station, it is good news, even if it is a bomb.

Also, it is possible to jam anything that might try to remotely blow up the package.

Finally, if it is a bomb, then someone got pictures of the delivery boy or girl saying "Allah Akbar" -- One does not need UAV's to keep the tube under survelliance.

I have yet to hear any criticism of him, coming from England.

David Davis, Shadow Home Secretary (likely next leader of the Tory Party) dragged him over the coals for that. Blair privately is reported to be really angry.

Were you "sweating"??? Seems I read that was a clue. :)

I can tell you that there aren't often unattended packages or suitcases found in the London underground. If you don't hold tight to your bags, there is always someone lurking about, ready to pick them up.
