FUBAR. Corporate $lobbyist$ control over US immigration and China policies has put the country's citizens on the downslope.
And as if this isn't enough,the "rights" groups are demanding that illegals receive a "living wage" for their menial work.While a teen might settle for wages that may put spending money in his pockets,the same job for an illegal may have to support a wife and children.
Definetely a rough business.

Some of the low level laborers leave to return to their home country when their visas expire...but they come back begging for their job back...

How about stoping all payments period to any country that supports illegal coming to this country. I don't understand why we the taxpayers don't have a voice to where the money goes. especially when it goes to the PLO.

I don't know where you are hanging out, but most of the teens I know that want to work don't look like that.
Although there are teens that are like your description, your generalization that ALL teens are like this is untrue.
Also, many Mexicans are hardworking and dependable and I have no problem seeing them hired so long as they are LEGAL. Hiring an illegal is against the law, if you are a true conservative you would have respect for the law.
Teenagers don't have the money to pursue a class action suit through years of litigations. And I thought FR was, in general, against the concept of lawsuits, EEO claims, and legal actions being brought against employers.
Yes, I am normally against them. But in this case, the greater good is to stop illegals. I don't want to destroy innocent businessmen.

I've been saying this for the 2-1/2 years I've been here on FR. It's true...our policies are totally shafting our teens who are not "college" material and who prefer to be employed in the trades.

You're funny. 20 feet away from me is an American kid (Tony) who has more ink on him than mose jailhouse lifers.... he walks around with more hardware stuck through his lips, eyebrows, nostrils etc than the nuts and bolts section of a Home Depot Store. He works 50 hours a week in this job and another 30 hours a week in his second job to support his wife and two kids. Stop stereotyping.
I'm not sterotyping... It just makes me uncomfortable to be around people like that. And I certainly have no intention of hiring someone who looks like that.
I feel perfectly justified in treating them such, since they made the conscious decision to mame themselves in that way.
I also question the mental health of anyone who would do such a thing to themselves.
I know this post is days old but I'm just getting around to reading it. It seems to me that what we need is a movement like the Minutemen to go into businesses and check the immigration status of its employees, file a suit against the company and prevent the illegals from working. I don't know what the legal recourse would be, but I'm sure there is a Freeper who can find the legal means to make this happen.

You bet. I grew up with many kids that would almost rather starve than have to work in food service or retail. Even now, I constantly have to defend the fact that I am one of those recent (sorta) college grads that don't have a job in my field, and therefore, I need to work and still pay bills with the retail job I have. Even in high school before I had the a degree and skill set, I had the same problem.
I was at In and Out a few months ago, and they had the one girl who couldn't speak English well working at the window. Now, in all fairness, it doesn't bug me that she has the job. What bugs me is that the local teenagers don't want to work there. In and Out pays awfully good money for being a fast food restaurant, almost $10 in some markets. I would have loved to make that much at 16.
I've read several of your posts on this thread. Your experiences in Minnesota are much different than the realities in high immigration states. Minority teen employment in NJ is now at the highest level ever recorded, including the years after the civil rights riots in NJ's major urban centers. Unemployment foe African American teens is so high the NJ State department of Labor has publicly said they have no confidence in their unemployment numbers for young adults, there are so many unemployed they can no longer accurately account for them in the state.
It's causing serious problems in NJ's cities, ten's of thousands of young men are without work.
