Whether or not this guy was a jerk really shouldn't have everything to do with his acceptance into the orchestra....true, getting tenure is affected by professionalism and congeniality, but for some reason, I doubt that this guy was really THAT unprofessional that he couldn't keep a job he won in the New York Phil. The committee that decides who gets tenure is typically made up of AT LEAST 70% instrumentalists from the musician's section, meaning that most of them were violinists, and therefore, female.....if this guy was a "jerk," then of course a bunch of ladies aren't going to grant him tenure, they would want someone nice a friendly (not trying to be sexist, but this guy's playing ability shouldn't even be in question). I think this is affirmitive action in the worst way....
