A pair of early morning shootings sent two Guadalupe County men to area hospitals with bullet wounds to the abdomen Friday.
"We were pretty busy in the early morning today," said Guadalupe County Sheriff's Department spokesman Kevin Jordan. "It's pretty unusual for us to have two shootings in one night."
In the first incident, a woman on the 100 block of Baker Creek Loop in northwestern Guadalupe County answered the door to a man she recognized as an acquaintance of her son at about 12:30 a.m., Jordan said.
He said the man put a knife to the woman's neck and sexually assaulted her.
The woman fled to a neighboring house. The couple living there let her in, but her nude assailant followed her and started breaking out glass door panels with his knife, Jordan said.
As the assailant reached through the broken glass to unlock the door, the male resident of the house shot him with a rifle. The 9 mm bullet went through the assailant's hand and into his abdomen.
Sheriff's deputies found him lying in the front yard, a knife in his hand, Jordan said. He is in stable condition at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin.
Jordan said the department expects to charge the man with aggravated sexual assault and burglary of a habitation.
Less than two hours later, deputies were called to the 100 block of Valley Meadows in the Cibolo area for a report of a second shooting, Jordan said.
He said a boyfriend and girlfriend were arguing and both went for a handgun kept in a bedroom nightstand. As they struggled for the gun, it went off and hit the boyfriend in the abdomen.
The man is in stable condition at Brooks Army Medical Center. Jordan said the investigation is continuing and it was unclear if any charges would be filed.
One round into a naked guy that's breaking into my house? Well, perhaps if it were from the 12 gauge, even then, I'd keep popping him until he quit moving.
In Texas that is the legal term for a whole host of offences including rape. All carry the possibility of a life sentance. In Texas 'life' means 35 years before you get to talk to a parole board. If I could work my will it would simply mean life.
LOL, but you beat my post by 4 minutes.
Of course!
I wouldn't mind having one of those.
Sounds like a Charles Bronson movie can't remember the name of it though .
Extra credit to the homeowner for causing two wounds with one round.
The "Death Wish" series?
I still use hollow point .45's. There's less of a risk of pass-through and hitting something or someone behind the target.
I checked one out. They're pretty heavy, kinda pricy, and there aren't many toys for them. They use a P89 10 rd. magazine. However, it is nice, and built like a tractor. OTOH, for the bucks, I think I'd rather get a mini-30.
Nice shooting. 9mm *rifle*? There are a few of course. Maybe a Marlin Camp carbine, or a Hi-Point 955? Of course there are 9mm versions of the AR-15 as well.

That will happen when you bring a knife to a gun fight. The defender should have used a gun that shoots bigger bullets, or faster ones.
See my post above, there are several rifles, carbines really, chambered for the 9mm pistol cartridge. Very handy little guns, but the same models are often available in .40 S&W and/or .45 ACP, which would be just as handy, but more effective too.
It stopped him didn't it? Put him right on the ground. Remember you shoot to stop, not to kill. Of course enough force to stop has a good chance of punching his ticket permanently, but that's his problem.
Of course. It's a given that we never shoot until there is a deadly threat and stop as soon as that threat is ended. But I train with double taps, and if the threat is still there (standing) double tap again, and again, and once again if needed.
I normally have 26 rounds available to me as I'm out & about day or night, and I surly don't wish for it, I wouldn't hesitate using them if I need to.
What's your family's life worth, one round or two?
A 9mm rifle?
Read all the above posts. This has already been extensively covered. :)
It was the one where the guy would kill woman while he was naked and they had a rough time getting evidence it might be part of that series i just don't remember the name of it .
Marlin camp carbine ,hi-point I think Kel-tec makes one also The Baretta "storm" carbine. All are pistol caliber carbine/rifles.
