(Naked) Guadalupe assailant shot when he follows victim to neighbors (TX)

A pair of early morning shootings sent two Guadalupe County men to area hospitals with bullet wounds to the abdomen Friday.

"We were pretty busy in the early morning today," said Guadalupe County Sheriff's Department spokesman Kevin Jordan. "It's pretty unusual for us to have two shootings in one night."

In the first incident, a woman on the 100 block of Baker Creek Loop in northwestern Guadalupe County answered the door to a man she recognized as an acquaintance of her son at about 12:30 a.m., Jordan said.

He said the man put a knife to the woman's neck and sexually assaulted her.

The woman fled to a neighboring house. The couple living there let her in, but her nude assailant followed her and started breaking out glass door panels with his knife, Jordan said.

As the assailant reached through the broken glass to unlock the door, the male resident of the house shot him with a rifle. The 9 mm bullet went through the assailant's hand and into his abdomen.

Sheriff's deputies found him lying in the front yard, a knife in his hand, Jordan said. He is in stable condition at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin.

Jordan said the department expects to charge the man with aggravated sexual assault and burglary of a habitation.

Less than two hours later, deputies were called to the 100 block of Valley Meadows in the Cibolo area for a report of a second shooting, Jordan said.

He said a boyfriend and girlfriend were arguing and both went for a handgun kept in a bedroom nightstand. As they struggled for the gun, it went off and hit the boyfriend in the abdomen.

The man is in stable condition at Brooks Army Medical Center. Jordan said the investigation is continuing and it was unclear if any charges would be filed.

A quick google shows uzi makes one, wonder if it uses handgun ammo?

That would be an affirmative.

I wouldn't buy it though. I only own one 9mm weapon and only because it is a collector's item.

I can't remember which FReeper said it, but: "A 9mm is a .45 set on 'stun'."

Personally, I keep a loaded .44 handy at home. Kinda noisy, but I will never have to shoot anything twice with it.

9mm is perfectly adaquate. Depends on the round used. If these had been Noseler XTP hollowpoints, the perp would be dead. As it is, it was probably standard 115gr FMJ. Good for poking small holes in paper, useless for almost anything else.

But I highly doubt that was the firearm used in this story.

That Storm is the ugliest gun ever, IMO. Make one in .50 AE or .500 S&W and I'll be impressed.

Fine.

The nice thing about a .45 is that you don't need expansion. It is already big enough.

Same here, once would probably be enough. Of course my shotgun is right next to the .44.

Guy needs a bigger gun. It takes 3 9mm to do what one .45 could accomplish.

The 2nd Amendment has always been my favorite, as it ensures/insures the others!

VERY good point!

There are quite a few 9mm carbines (short rifles) available on the market, Beretta Storm, Kel-Tec Sub2000, and HiPoint Carbine to name but a few. All available for around 500 or less.

They are all easy to handle and to shoot.

Too bad he didn't get off at least a double tap.

Im betting it was a hi point 9mm carbine, pretty compact and cheap and plenty dependable.
Ugly as sin but who cares in the dark?

There are some 9mm rifles such as 9x39 and 9x57 but I'd be surprised if this guy had one. Probably just more reporter speak.

9X57 sounds like an awsome cartridge.

Or not low enough. A few inches lower and the rapist would sing in a higher key. :)

Didn't Dirty Harry cap some dude in the same situation?

9x57 is pretty old but probably still in use. It was developed from the old Mauser 8x57 military round.
