Anti-immigration Rep. Tom Tancredo hints at presedential run

DENVER - Tom Tancredo has been called a one-trick pony of a politician, a man out of step with his party, a bigot.

The Republican congressman vehemently opposes illegal immigration, and he created an uproar last week when he talked about nuking Muslim holy sites.

No matter, Tancredo is pressing on and even hinting at a long-shot presidential bid in 2008.

Tancredo has already visited New Hampshire and Iowa this year, and says he found a welcome audience among voters who are fed up with the nation's immigration policies, including proposals by President Bush.

"Unless I misread the political tea leaves, there is a great deal of support for what I say," Tancredo said.

Tancredo raised eyebrows last week by telling a radio talk show host that "you could take out" Islamic holy sites should terrorists ever launch a nuclear attack against the United States.

"You're talking about bombing Mecca," asked the host.

"Yeah," Tancredo responded, saying he was "just throwing out some ideas." He later said his comments were taken out of context and refused to apologize.

Few consider Tancredo a serious challenger for the GOP presidential nomination, but his stance resonates with some in a post-September 11 era when volunteer groups like the Minutemen have been patrolling the border for illegal immigrants.

Tancredo would like the United States to patrol its borders with the military. He said the U.S. also needs a guest worker program that requires employers to prove a need for short-term labor, without amnesty for illegal immigrants.

Esteban Flores, executive director of the Latino Research and Policy Center in Denver, calls Tancredo a bigot who is trying to use racial division to further his career. He compared Tancredo to George Wallace, the outspoken opponent of desegregation.

How could Tom Tancredo be in Denver commenting on this when thanks to Hugh Hewitt we know that Tom must be in Egypt carrying out those terror attacks!

Mister Tancredo seems bent on destroying the Republican party.

Just an odd thought, but I wonder if he's ever done lunch with Hillary's operatives.

When has the liberal ABC program "This Week with George Stephanopoulous" had Cong. Tancredo as a guest to discuss immigration or any other issue?

When has the liberal NBC program "Meet the Press" had Cong. Tancredo as a guest to discuss immigration or any other issue?

When has the liberal CBS program "Face the Nation" had Cong. Tancredo as a guest to discuss immigration or any other issue?

How often has the liberal ABC World News Tonight used comments on camera by Cong. Tancredo in a story?

How often has the liberal NBC Nightly News used comments on camera by Cong. Tancredo in a story?

How often has the liberal the CBS Evening News used comments on camera by Cong. Tancredo in a story?

I believe Cong. Tancredo has made more appearances on Fox than he has made appearances on all of the above-mentioned shows combined.

Hillary supports giving legal status to illegal aliens.

Sen. McCain has joined with Sen. Kennedy to introduce a bill that will give legal status to illegal aliens. Sen. Brownback is an original co-sponsor of the McCain-Kennedy bill that will reward illegal aliens with legal status. Sen. Hagel supported a bill in the United States Senate this year that would have give legal status to illegal alien agricultural workers.

I suggest that Hillary have lunch with McCain, Brownback and Hagel. They can have a grand time discussing why they want to reward illegal aliens with legal status.

No politician and NO president is EVER going to please me or anyone else, 100% of the time. President Bush has done some things that I'm not at all in favor of/pleased with; however, until you and the dog in the mange, cut off your noses to spite your faces UNAPPEASEABLES, I am pleased with most of what he's done.

You're puerile, juvenile gutter talk doesn't help you refute anything that I have said; no, it only makes you look bad and lose the debate entirely.

I really must buy more stock in Reynolds...you people are using more tinfoil now, than you did last year. LOL

Oh, I see, you think that Tom Tancredo is a DEM! That explains sooooooooooooooo much. LOL

Voting third party/FRINGE, will ALWAYS AND EVER, help the person you MOST want NOT to will; unless, of course, you Ares one of those poor benighted souls, who actually fell for that codswallop, that the DEMS And the GOPERS are exactly alike. hehehehehehe

Look at the inherent CNN bias in the title.

"Anti-Immigration Tom Tancredo"

It's anti-illegal immigration lamestream media.

Perhaps you can't see reality because your eyes are blinded by George's butt cheeks.

Why are the Tancredo supporters on this thread so fascinated with greasy shorts and butt cheeks? Are there hugh and series developmental issues going on here?

If you can't conduct yourselves like adults, then please go away and come back after you graduate from the eighth grade.

No it wasn't; it was a bunch of political naifs, babies, and the easily gulled...all of whom have no knowledge nor understanding of history, politics, how government really works, and an inflated idea of their own tiny IQs, who gave us 8 long, weary, terrible years of Clinton.

Tom Tancredo has been called a one-trick pony of a politician, a man out of step with his party, a bigot.

Standard example of a reporter working his/her own opinion into the story as, "some people say ...". Well, CNN has been called a foundering sinkhole of leftist zealots with no idea what real journalism looks like.

every year the two mainstreamers merge closer and closer together

I agree. That's what chased me away from the GOP, they're sounding and acting more and more like the Dims.

Sometimes you have to make a point with terms only small minds can understand.

Sometimes you have to get your face out of the moon to see the sun. I hope you can understand that.
