Former U.S. intelligence officers criticized President Bush on Friday for not disciplining Karl Rove in connection with the leak of the name of a CIA officer, saying Bush's lack of action has jeopardized national security.
In a hearing held by Senate and House Democrats examining the implications of exposing Valerie Plame's identity, the former intelligence officers said Bush's silence has hampered efforts to recruit informants to help the United States fight the War on Terror. Federal law forbids government officials from revealing the identity of an undercover intelligence officer.
"I wouldn't be here this morning if President Bush had done the one thing required of him as commander in chief protect and defend the Constitution," said Larry Johnson, a former CIA analyst. "The minute that Valerie Plame's identity was outed, he should have delivered a strict and strong message to his employees."

I love this. Rove outed a CIA undercover agent even though she never served as an undercover agent!
Indeed. If he were even a half assed intel guy, he'd already know that Rove did NOT out Plame!
Headline should read "Clinton Cronies"
Actually, I think she did serve as an undercover agent in Europe prior to being moved back to the U.S. in 1994. She has been under very light cover since then, and that is probably only to protect the integrity of her former missions.
>>>I love this. Rove outed a CIA undercover agent even though she never served as an undercover agent!
Actually, she was undercover in the past, but became worthless as a covert agent when she hooked up with Joe Willy-Lose Lips Wilson. Her boss at the agency at the time said as much.
I know I posted the article before. I believe this genuis article discounting the threat of Terrorism was published August 10, 2001....
Rove didn't out her! That tells me that these "intel" officers have an ulterior motive. IMO the CIA has has elements of subversion that threaten the integrity of this country. Democrat agents or worse, maybe the same?
Oh BS. Ms Plame told her NEIGHBORS that she worked for the CIA, and apparently told lots of reporters too. Such a big friggin' secret. She drives a desk at Langley. Ooh, the whole world is in the balance now, Valerie! And note that the accusers are EX-intelligence, probably with an axe to grind. I am so tired of this meaningless crap.

"Judging from news reports and the portrayal of villains in our popular entertainment, Americans are bedeviled by fantasies about terrorism. They seem to believe that terrorism is the greatest threat to the United States and that it is becoming more widespread and lethal. They are likely to think that the United States is the most popular target of terrorists. And they almost certainly have the impression that extremist Islamic groups cause most terrorism.
"None of these beliefs are based in fact. ... While terrorism is not vanquished, in a world where thousands of nuclear warheads are still aimed across the continents, terrorism is not the biggest security challenge confronting the United States, and it should not be portrayed that way."
Larry Johnson is a political hack. He stopped being taken seriously long ago. These FORMER CIA officials must be putting this "news" out every other day. I have seen it in several other "news" sources.
Hey, has it been proved for sure that Rove "outed" this chick?
I bet this gal has been hunkered down somewhere being taught what to do once her 15 minutes of fame claims check gets cashed.
I couldn't have said it better. And I can't imagine why AP would run with this story authored by such a questionable sourcce. < /sarc >
No bias there. Republicans had work to do instead of goofing off. They couldn't join the hate fest.

He did. He said if anyone is found guilty of committing a crime, he'd fire them. Geese! What more does this guy want? Torture?
Why? What has he done? Did I miss something?
This sounds a lot like the Vietnam Vets for Kerry group.
They never think that people on the internet have either half a brain or a long memory.
Without the net, could you image going through a decade of microfilch trying to find that article?
The CIA screwed up WMD intelligence. Bush sent Goss in to do an over haul. (Oh no. This guy isn't bitter).
Exactly right. It's impossible for anyone to "leak" common knowledge. The whole thing is bogus.
Name spelled with a
You know, like the KKK
Coincedence? I don't think so.
