Kind of half way between that and the Book of Mormon. Remember the original series was pretty steeped in the philosophies of Mormonism because the primary writer was a very devout Mormon. To the best of my knowledge Ron Moore (the re-creator of the show) isn't, but he respects the history and foundation of the show so that idea is pretty solidly carried forward. And one of the ways he is carrying it forward is those familiar things, it's something he talked about in interviews back to the earliest days of pre-production, seeding the show with small references to our world (like the kid in the mini-series whose mom was making her favorite dish, chicken pot pie, when the attack started, can't get much more earthbound than chicken pot pie) as a reminder that these aren't aliens, this isn't a dim and distant foreign culture, these are humans with the same roots as us, looking for us.

I have the OS, TNG and DS9 on DVD along with the original movies and the special editions. Every disc I own plays just fine.

Did you buy all them one by one (each season of each series), or did you luck out on ebay and get all them at once?

I bought them all on preorder. Amazon gives you 40% off MSRP.

I had given up on SG-1 last season. Browder is perfect and Claudia Black made it two great episodes. Browder as a genuine hero with his own drive to work with the first SG-1 team is a nice touch. I think Shanks will be an occasional character - he may also be getting tired of it.

BSG is looking good so far but yikes are they killing off humans at an alarming rate.

I don't think it's going to win any awards but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as the one a few weeks back where some evil scientist turned his son into some sort of manshark and they had some fat guy as the hero who kept calling the female lead "baby."

That was bad.

But the question I ask myself is why do I always find myself watching.

I seem to recall seeing a lot of brick walls in that "space ship".

Well, last season RDA was not happy being on the show and the quality of the show was getting down, however, with the addition of BB, it has given the show new energy. Atlantis has improved over last season. I wasn't happy with Ford and I'm glad he was removed..

I know what you mean by killing off the humans at an alarming rate. By the season ends, there maybe no more humans.

I completely agree. Ford was a drag and the addition of the Dadeleus(sp) is nice to give them mobility in near space with firepower.
