You'd be amazed at the number of Volvos, VWs and Subarus around Ithaca, many sporting an "I Support the American Labor Movement" bumper sticker.

I'll give you the Mexican-made VW, but Subaru builds cars in Lafayette, IN. Volvo is owned by Ford, which shares components among its various global marques. If you can buy a new car or truck that's 100% U.S.-made, I'll be amazed.

Isn't this the same N.Y. that pays lip service to not having jobs? Carping by the Hildabeast about how hard she has laboured to bring jobs to N.Y. to help feed the children?
Nahhhhh just send the jobs to germany or maybe yugoslavia or sweeden.

On a more practical note, and not being a "car guy", I ask:

How are these cars on hills? And on snow?

GM's investment is substantial as Mexico's single largest private employer. GM Mexico assembles many models for the domestic sales and worldwide export. It markets the Chevrolet, Pontiac, Cadillac and Saab brands, and Fiat.

General Motors of Canada Limited is the largest automaker in the country, directly employing about 20,000 employees. Its seven assembly and components facilities provide an annual production capacity of more than 1 million vehicles. GM Canada is Canada’s largest exporter. We drive the largest automotive supply chain, with C$17.5 billion sourced to Canadian suppliers in 2003 alone.

Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited (Ford) is an integral part of the international Ford Motor Company organization. Ford boasts advanced manufacturing facilities, encompassing vehicle assembly, engine manufacture and iron casting.

Ford produced 185,874 units in Mexico in 2002

sounds like an awful lot of vehicles made outside the US to me.

what i was more referring to is the tahoes, 'burbans, caprices, impalas, and crown vics... the most popular (police) vehicles that are more made out of country than in.
