BTW, German settlers began arriving in the 1600s. Someone who is only 3rd generation is hardly representative of the 1/4 of the American people who claim to be substantially of German ancestry.

Well, I'm speaking of Germans in Texas, strictly. There was a HUGE influx to Texas through Galveston and New Orleans in the early 1800s, after the Prince of Solms was sent to establish a settlement. You might say Texas was the German's destination of last resort, LOL.
