Senator Boxer: Securing Marine Sanctuaries

===============================================

Dear Friend:

Protecting our oceans makes good economic and environmental
sense.  Our oceans not only provide food and recreation but
also help to regulate our water quality and climate.  Some
areas of our ocean are particularly vital, supporting an
abundance of fish and marine mammals.  One of these areas is
found just off the coast of Mendocino, Sonoma, Marin, and San
Francisco counties.

I recently joined Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey at a press
conference to highlight our legislation to provide greater
protection to a larger portion of California’s coast.  Her bill
in the House, and mine in the Senate, would extend the
boundaries of the Gulf of the Farallones and Cordell Bank
National Marine Sanctuaries to provide better protection to
these areas by making it more difficult to drill for oil in
them.

The area along the Sonoma Coast comprises just 1 percent of the
ocean, but it produces about 20 percent of the world’s fish.
This is an amazingly rich area for both fish and marine mammals
such as whales, seals and sea lions.  In fact, this area is the
only place in the world where the endangered blue whale’s
population is increasing.

It is very fitting that we better protect these areas for
generations to come.  I am so pleased to be working with
Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey on this important legislation.

Sincerely,

Barbara Boxer United States Senator

These women are so far off track. They are trying to take over the whole coast.

The oil is so anxious to be drilled for it is oozing up from the ocean floor and appearing on the beaches as a tar like substance.

Boxer and her kind should never be allowed to leave the friendly confines of the laundry room. She needs to soak her head for a good, long while.

"What's all this nonsense I hear about Marine sanctuaries? Can't they just go to the base chapel like everyone else? We can't have them running to sanctuaries if the drill sergeant is a little bit mean to them. After all they are Marines and ... what? what did you say? marine as in the sea? Oh ... never mind."

LOL. When I first read the title, I thought for sure that Parris Island was in danger and that Babs had finally lost it all and was now permanently in bonkersville. Babs caring about Marines? Hell would bloody well freeze over first.

Wow! I never knew that "Representative" was so dedicated to supporting our the needs of our Marines.

I hope we can get sanctuaries and chaplains for our Army, Air Force, Navy and National Guard as well. Sounds like her heart's in the right place...

...oh. Just read the article. Never mind.

Can't these democrats ever figure this out? How many caribou have to vote for oil exploration before they figure it out? What about coral reefs or schools of fish? Can they vote for oil exploration in California?

Maybe if her Lordship didn't get her gas for free we wouldn't have to listen to this tree-hugging garbage. What really annoys me is that if they could, the fish would all vote for oil exploration.

Good points, and thanks for the link.

Drilling for oil is good for the environment, but the Dems only like the environmentalists that want to destroy the ecosystem
