No surprise here.
Don't ever think PBS spoke for the legitimate scientific community.
Pure Darwinian Evolution was Lysenkoism.
It went out before the 20th century began.
Punctuated Equilibrium Evolution refined that again into a very different process in the 1960s.
Creationists blathering about Darwinism are beating a dead horse, just like Flat Earth Loons fighting against Newtonian Gravity a century after General Relativity.
They aren't even in the right ring.

Is punctuated equilibrium really a different process? I was under the impression it was just a smaller population. Same process, just done on an isolated population so that the changes are (a) more rapid and (b) not in the fossil record.
If it is different than Darwinism on a process level, what is the difference? In what way does it vary from Undirected Mutation + Selection = Evoluion?
I don't really come down on one side or the other of this issue because we don't, and can't, really know, but punctuated equilibrium is the equivalent of a perfect crime--we have a body but there's no murder weapon. Gould's theory is less convincing than amything the intelligent design crowd is putting forth.
Careful, your complete ignorance is showing. No, it wasn't. Where did you get such a completely false idea from?
It went out before the 20th century began.
Wrong again. Who lied to you about that one?
Punctuated Equilibrium Evolution refined that again into a very different process in the 1960s.
Horse manure. You've been reading the cartoon-version of Punctuated Equilibrium that the creationist books use, I see. They're fond of misrepresenting it.
