Ditto to Ann - the media and hollywood did everything in their powers to get Kerry elected and failed - why do we continue to kiss the libs ass???? Abortion of live babies is not mainstream, racism in hiring and education is not mainstream, homosexual marriage is not mainstream - Bush should have picked someone who is on the record for strict constitutional interpretation and individual rights. I think conservatives probably got screwed again - time will tell.

Everything I've read indicates that Roberts strongly favors strict interpretation of the Constitution. He's a member of the Federalist Society nearly everything I've seen that he has decided supports the Constitution. Levin and Ann apparently disagree on Roberts - I suspect it will be Ann in this case who cries "uncle" in the end. Though she's right about "no real abortion track record" there is nothing to suggest he would not be in favor of an originalist interpretation there that would send that whole mess back to the states. I would agree, and be happy with that outcome.

I agree. Ann's point about how the Reps handled the filibuster is an excellent illustration of how the Reps do not know how to engage in political warfare.

Bush should have thrown down the gauntlet with the purest Constructionist judge he could find and turned all of the backbiting and political dirty work of the past years into one debate: the values of the majority of Americans and how it is a Constructionist judge that does not undermine them through judicial activism.

If he'd done that, all the other issues would have been silenced and he would have gone a long way to getting America back on the paved road for the 08 Rep candidate that will face the wolf in sheep's clothing better known as Hillary.

In a brief before the Supreme Court (Rust v. Sullivan, 500 US 173, 1991), Roberts wrote:
"We continue to believe that Roe was wrongly decided and should be overruled. As more fully explained in our briefs, filed as amicus curiae, in Hodgson v. Minnesota, 110 S. Ct. 2926 (1990); Webster v. Reproductive Health Services, 109 S. Ct. 3040 (1989); Thornburgh v. American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, 476 U.S. 747 (1986); and City of Akron v. Akron Center for Reproductive Health, 462 U.S. 416 (1983), the Court's conclusions in Roe that there is a fundamental right to an abortion and that government has no compelling interest in protecting prenatal human life throughout pregnancy find no support in the text, structure, or history of the Constitution."

"Abortion of live babies is not mainstream..."

Did you see what Babu posted about Roberts on Roe V Wade? I reposted it above.
