I read your great article on the other thread. Below is my reply on that thread.

I remember the frustration shared by so many of us during the Clintoon's first and second term.

We knew the Clintoons, their cabinet and staff were criminals. Only Rush was getting the story out and a few news letters of limited scope were on the trail.

I was a member of Prodigy and felt the total frustration of having anything critical removed by the mods on their site.

We went to Britain the Summer of 1996, and I couldn't believe what the Times and the other conservative Brit newspapers were saying and printing about the Clintoons. I collected a lot of the articles and brought them home to share with friends. We had to fly to the UK to read news paper articles that dared to say the Clintoons were crooks.

I joined FR in August of 2000, was basically a lurker until the attempted election coup by Gore and the MSM. Then I became active.

The time from the election to the Supreme Court opinion was a dark and dangerous time for us and America. Free Republic was the only real way for us to know what was happening and to have data to share with our friends and relatives.

I developed a 50 person key email list, and would send a couple of the best links to that list. The list smoked out a couple of pseudo conservatives, who hated GW more than the outspoken liberals. They went off my list. If I didn't send something for a couple of days, I would have emails from those on my list wanting to know if I was okay.

History will probably show that Freepers around the nation as Richard pointed out had an incredible impact on preventing the Rat coup.

The Blather/Mapes memo koed by Buckhead and Howlin and others was another great moment. I had followed the destruction of that lie on FR after the lies aired on CBS.

The next morning I had an email with the famous memo actually being changed in front of us on our monitors.

That went out immediately to my list. The response was incredible, and most of my recipients emailed it to their lists. Before the day was over, I was getting my original email with the changing memo from people who I hadn't sent it to.

The Buckhead/Howlin derailment of Blather/Mapes turned the rat victory into defeat and the eventual sacking of those involved.

Each Freepathon many of us ask where would we/America be without Free Republic?

I have long said that President Bush owes his Presidency to FreeRepublic.com (among others), so thank you for publicizing this story.

In addition to the critical action you noted in Florida, was the chanting of DC FReepers that drove AlGore up a tree, "Get out of Cheney's house! Get out of Cheney's house! Get out of Cheney's house!" Gore later admitted that it got to him.

FreeRepublic is national. No other venue could have organized protests in every major city so rapidly. No other site had the manpower to analyze obvious ballot fraud with volunteers trained in statistics or the connections to get that information to those who could use it.

As much as I have been told how George Bush prizes loyalty, I wish he took the views of those to who brung him to the dance more seriously.

Mr. Poe. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for your wonderful work on this fine series. As always, I was mesmerized while reading it and simultaneously recalling those days when I was literally living in front of My computer and feeling as if the nation was teetering on the brink of doom. I knew if Gore and the Clinton operatives succeeded in stealing the election, even though all manner of nefarious and illegal activities had still not managed to put Gore in office, the collective outrage of the people were going to make a lot of officials understand what the term 'Fear Of God' truly meant. I was stunned when that corpulent criminal couple managed to get into the White house the first time, and outraged when they somehow managed it the second time, and knew that if the skulduggery already in motion managed to get their Chosen One in after them then this country was in dire peril.

To this day, I still recall the feeling of speeded up heartbeat worry, nights of nervous sleeplessness, hours of being glued to the keyboard reading and posting without let... and making plans to do something, anything, protestings (although I never have done such a thing in the past), radio talkshow callings -and making plans to do some extended 'camping' if the shadow government succeeded after all. Call Me more than a bit bonkers if you will, but I sincerely believe that if they managed to get AlGore in power, this land would be far worse than even I was envisioning, and the events of 11 September would have been a mere prelude to what would have followed.

Your series are most enlightening, and I hope to read much more of your work in the future. Thanks again for all your hard work.

Or it should become suggested reading for new FReepers, when they sign up so they know the impact this site can have and that they/we are not alone anymore. When we are united with one purpose, to expose the lies and deceptions of politicians and public figures our "voice" can be heard more clearly and more loudly than all the broadcasts of paid media "spinners" who are obligated to either their employers or a cause to which they have allied themselves. We are not obligated to anyone but ourselves, and our desire for truth and justice drives and unites us. We do not need the approval of a boss or board to research and post information. We do not owe favors to political entities, and we fear no threats from those in powerful positions. Ours is a mission for finding and exposing the real story - it is that simple.

Thanks to Jim we have been empowered as "Davids" who can bring down the Goliaths in the battle of disseminating information. Those giants are not so powerful anymore as they stand guard of all the hidden agendas and attempts to create and perpetuate the lies of their cohorts who desire only to destroy our freedoms and control our thinking. We know they are paying attention by their reactions to, and retaliations toward us. A few years ago, I used to click on the WP daily and the LAT a few times a week. After their case against FR, I completely quit going to their sites.
