I think a fair amount of time would be a week or two, after all, most of the people on the committee were there during Robert's other confirmation hearing and there shouldn't be that many questions they haven't already asked.
If the dems sink to trying to smear this good man, the committee should just vote on him and send it out to the floor, where he'll be overwhelmingly approved.
This man has good connections on both sides of the aisle and is respected by both sides. We should also let it be known that if the nuclear option is brought to bear on this nomination, it's already in place for all future nominations.
I think he'll be confirmed by mid-September by the latest.
