US senators introduce bill to stem illegal immigration

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Lawmakers in the US Senate introduced legislation designed to stem a flood of illegal immigration across America's southern borders.

"This bill strengthens our border enforcement and comprehensively reforms our immigration system, said Republican Senator John Cornyn, one of the authors of the bill, The Comprehensive Enforcement and Immigration Reform Act of 2005.

"We need both stronger enforcement and reasonable reform of our immigration laws," he said.

"In the past, we have not devoted the funds, the resources, or the manpower to enforce our immigration laws or protect our borders," said Cornyn, of the southwestern state of Texas, which shares a long border with Mexico.

The bill's co-sponsor, Republican Jon Kyl of Arizona, said the legislation's goal is "returning the rule of law to the border."

"The single most important aspect of this bill is that it does not reward those who have broken the law, and does not constitute amnesty," said the Republican from Arizona, another southwestern US state bordering Mexico.

"As a nation, we have made both of those mistakes and learned from them. They are the reason we now have an undocumented population as high as 15 million," Kyl said.

Among numerous provisions, the bill would provide funding for 10,000 border patrol agents and 1,250 new customs officers.

It also would devote five billion dollars over five years for high-tech cameras and sensors and infrastructural improvementss at border stations and checkpoints to help stop illegal border crossing

The bill also strengthens US-VISIT entry-exit system to identify aliens who enter the United States illegally and better track those who fail to depart.

The legislation also increases penalties for alien smuggling, document fraud, drug trafficking and gang violence.

The bill also establishes a temporary worker program, creating a new visa category that allows aliens to enter the United States to work for up to two years when there are no available US workers.

A Republican sponsoring the bill who fails to call them ILLEGAL ALIENS says it all right there.

Nothing will be done, folks, until this nation cancels July 4th and makes Cinco de Mayo the National Holiday.

They're not my personal problems, they're yours. These are what individuals say about you.

In the end, the only opinion that matters is God's. There can be no comparing the incomparable Light of God's countenance to the dark souls of the mean-spirited haters.

"And while there is nothing at all wrong with being a pious Sh'ite"

No one said there is anything wrong with being a shi'te. unfortunately there is something wrong with being a shi'te who supports/sympathizes with jihadists, like yourself. you may think you can fool others on this site, but you haven't fooled me, or the other people who post here-- their freepmails i pasted above. everyone here knows you as a troublemaker, i know you have had many complaints against you, accusations of disrupting this forum.

everyone can tell when you refer to people as the satanic right, say that tancredo supporters stab the troops in the back (absolute lies)

Again, it appears as if you're the hater here, referring to individuals as the satanic right, and so on. We can all tell that you hate america, except your thinly veiled attempts otherwise to convince the foolish here that you support America. as i have shown, i am not alone in my assertion that you are a jihadist sympathizer....those freepmails i pasted above say it all.

Nonsense! I have read all of the information out on the bill, and have been dealing with the illegal immigration issue on a daily basis.

You seem to get desperate and switch issues to deflect away from your hatred for the right, hatred for america, and support for jihadists. You've been completely outed on this and the other tancredo threads, now more people than ever before know you are a phony.

What I mean is that in 1986 and in 1995, Congress passed all sorts of tougher enforcements. Nothing ever became of them. But we did get stuck with two amnesties and loads of fictitious rights out of the 1986 and 1995 immigration "reform" laws. Let Congress demonstrate that the reforms in the package will be implemented, and that they work. Then, we'll consider more visas. As it stands, what good is it to make for tougher border control, when we;ll give them the visas to come here without ever asking that they go back?

The bill requires them to go back within one year, and if they do not then they will be banned from the program for 10 years. Coupled with the new requirements for working if they do not go back their new occupation in a couple of years will be hobos or stealing.

For someone who whines about the races of American babies and who claimed the Founders wanted a whites-only nation, you should never call anyone else a traitor.==

You clinging to his words. Can you think more wider? Don't you see problem?

As far as I red american Constitution, the founders wanted the europian main stream CULTURE dominated in United States.
One reason: because it is ONLY base for prospering of country.
Look on world. What countries are prosperious today? Europian cultural ONLY.

Why? What defference aside of culture is in-between United States and Mexico? Same land, same public system, even similar name: Mexico is Mexican United States.
I'd say : defference is cultural only.

SO only europian culture which is real basic source of advantages of United States before Mexico and others.

SO WHAT will be if the majority of people carriors of europian culture in United States will dissolve?

I think it is main question to answer.

Can you answer it mr Cultural Jihad? Can assure that economy and prosperness of United States will be preserved when another NONeuropian culture - from some third world country will dominate United States?

My answer: If the carriers of europian culture will die out of United States then it will be end of United States as leader of civilized world. Instead it will be new corrupt country which everyone will forget after few years.

But I emphasize that the carriers of europian culture may be any race people. It is for sure.
SO decent and color of skin does NOT play role here. Simply people of different decent has to learn american mainstream culture and become true americans.

"You don't represent conservatives or Christians. The Buchanan/Tancredo crowd is the furtherest thing from conservative or Christian."

Haahaa - thanks for the joke - it was nice to start the day with a laugh. Most everyone knows that you are socialist/communist on this board - do you label others just to try to elude some so that you can have a little respect here? I feel sorry for you... old, tired and pitiful, what a life you must lead.

If the huge and growing Hispanic bloc is up for grabs, and it seems to be leaning our way, let's let more in!

I assume you're being facetious, but the sad part is that some of the political leaders really do feel this way. They just can't see that the Mexican nationals who are coming into the country are nothing like the American conservative hispanics-----except in complexion.

And you guys may save the country yet. Remember when it was a 'melting pot' but everyone had to learn English, and becoming middle or upper class by meeting or exceeding American social standards (e.g. Anglo-Saxon mores) was the goal of each immigrant?

The melting pot let people preserve their heritages while truly becoming American. That's the way it ought to be, and God bless those of you who still see it that way.

I can understand that! I've heard that Mexican food -- the real stuff -- is more nutritionally and flavorfully complex than most other food. The real thing is sophisticated as it combines Spanish, French, and native American recipes.
