Yesterday, I called the regional office of INS to complain about a local construction company's hiring of illegal immigrants. The person I spoke with suggested that I personally verify each and every worker's eligibility, and report back to her.
My question to her was: Should I ask the employer for copies of I-9's, or go onto the worksite and ask each worker for proof of a work permit or green card? She suggested that I-9's are a part of an employee's personnel file, and that the employer is not obligated to make them available to me or anyone else outside the government.
That put us right back where we started, and I asked why someone from INS, with the authority to look into the situation, couldn't look into it. She told me that she could only suggest that I call the employer and take his word whether his employees are working legally.
I next asked what I should do if I learned from the workers that they weren't working legally. She said there was nothing an individual could do except file a report with the regional office. She would not speculate how long it would take for them to investigate the problem.
Again, enforce the existing laws. Passing new law is only smoke and mirrors. Cornyn must be running for something.

I make crap loads of money from illegals
Whatever floats your boat.

Sounds like a flawed (I'm being kind - how about bill written by cretins) bill.
What about the legal Yemenis who are bringing into the US their 10 -15 kids from several wives in Yemen and Somalia? What about the Muslims coming across from Canada?
There are thousands of legal Europeans terrorists who can come here legally right through our airports...does this bill address that? I doubt it.

"Based on the reporting of it, the bill seems ambiguous and open to subjective bureaucrats and judges."
An ambiguous bill for ambiguous aliens.
Seal the borders. Seal them NOW!

Maybe each of you should do a little research before making negative posts. The bill does strengthen penalties against employers of illegal aliens. I quote:

Whatever floats your boat. Here's another boat floater. Wage pimps like yourself should be in jail, not posting on FR. You contribute zero to the U.S. If America didn't have substandard workers, at a substandard wage working every job from bricklayer to roofer then LEGAL Americans could learn the skills and make a decent wage. I'm sure that means nothing to you, might cut into your profits. Go boof yourself......

Maybe each of you should do a little research before making negative posts.Thank you for thinking of me. I will keep your advice in mind when/if I have any comments to post regarding this proposed legislation.

When the Quislings run out of lies, they just throw this down. It's all they have got.

That is the favorite dance of the Quislings: the "Not My Job Two-Step."
Quisling: a synonym for traitor, someone who collaborates with the invaders of his country.

Who knows what ridders that have been attached to this bill thereby gutting any extra funding that would/could have been used. The congresscritters can say that they had passed a bill providing for extra officers, but each dist. has to get their fair share of the monies first. Thus in the end there will NOT be any money left for the border security & the American people take it in the shorts AGAIN!

That's good. That's great! Thank you! I only said I did not see those provisions in the article posted. Okay?
I didn't make a "negative" post either. What about my other two points? Hmmm?

Our Quisling leaders will never build an effective border fence system,
because it would work.

Yeah, it's just a blame game, putting folks on hold forever, etc. Clearly, the government doesn't give s sh!t about this problem.
But I predict it will come back and bite them in the butt big time. We may very well have The Hildabeaste in the White House come 2008 because of this crap.
The American public at large is getting mighty fed up with this. Not a good thing.
I'd suggest you call or write Cornyn's office (don't email, too easily ignored), tell them your story and ask, specifically, what in this bill will solve your problem. The answer should be enlightening.

The bill also establishes a temporary worker program Bingo
The descriptions of the proposed legislation sounded unusual for the senate; it sounded as if it were based on reason and traditional values ... until I read the last paragraph of the article and then up popped the devil. No surprise.

Whatever floats your boat. Not done with you yet, whether you deem to reply or nor. I don't want the illegals, working their butts off, in jail. I want you, C.J. I want you to serve time, I want you to pay a huge fine, I want you to pay the price for screwing America at the expense of the taxpayer. Cultural Jihad this, it's not the illegals that will go down......it's you nimrod.
