Me too........there is no evidence or witness statements that really indicate otherwise......in fact it is zilch except for the bit in the casino at the Hilton between the concert at the beach and later at C & C's.....more like selection and stalking, I think.
They have something that has DNA on it - it could be anything - semen from inside the car (possibly mixed with Natalee's DNA if she was raped in the car) - It is possible that the condoms or even the panties they found (and they have found more than just one pair of panties) may be Natalee's or have natalee's DNA on them as well as someone elses DNA and they have to figure out who's DNA it is.
Wouldn't it be interesting (and awful) if they did find something of Natalee's and they found DNA from all 4 of them on it? (if so this surely would not fit in with the Kalpoe story that they left them on the beach)
Transfer DNA from Natalee and someone else could have been found in the back of one of the VDS cars.
Maybe they found an empty drink bottle or can with a trace of Roofies and someone's DNA on the can.
It looks like they are trying to build a case against all or one of these boys because they have something that no one in the public eye knows about yet.

I think these are pretty sheltered kids. 18 for me was half a lifetime ago, but I was very sheltered. I went to an incredibly conservative college in Lynchburg, VA and never thought twice about just introducing myself. I can't imagine adding alcohol in the mix at that age. I don't think it would take much for any of them to be in over their heads in pretty short order. I don't know that they are really trying to protect themselves as much as protecting Natalee and her family.

TexKat made a good point. The original request for DNA came on Thursday, yet the tape wasn't found until Sunday. They must have something else.

They are...one can only presume they are hiding their own misbehavior. But one would also imagine they would drop the act when a friend's life was hanging in the balance. Vy strange behavior.
I agree about sheltered vs. running the streets.
However, Beth did speak to Natalee about her concerns before she left. I believe she went down there with her eyes open. It could have happened to a 25 year old. No matter how much you are prepared, when something happens, how prepared are you really. All you need is one Joran in the midst.

Even though AVDS claims JVDS does not smoke. It could be that he does and they may have found some cigarette butts near that make-shift grave that they pulled some DNA from. PVDS may smoke also. Again it would be amazing if they found one of these boys DNA on something near an area like that make shift grave site. (like a tossed bottle of water or beverage and/or cigarette butts)
You know it took someone quite some time to dig a hole that big, even if they can't prove Natalee was in that hole but if they found DNA transfer on something near that hole of one of the VDS or Kalpoes it sure would look bad for them.
