Uh, since the police searched the car while the boys were alive in the trunk. And the police missed them. Don't you think they bear some responsibility?

If the police officer failed to check his rear-view mirror and backed over the three boys, and killed them, would you still claim that he bears no responsibility?

Excuse me? That's an uncalled for cheap shot. If the police 'searched' the car but didn't even look in the trunk, it is a no brainer to conclude they didn't do a thorough job. Liability, schmiability... I don't give a hoot about the legalities of this tragedy, but no police officer should EVER claim they've perfomed a car search without opening the damn trunk!
