In case you don't understand, I agree with you that the parents bear the responsibility of looking out for their children. The police should now know to do a more thorough search. But I'll play along and in honor of your inability to comprehend, I'll restate my answer another way- No, the police department does not have to drop everything to conduct a search. They are capable of doing more than one thing at a time.
