Hello,
I have been following FR all day, just now posting. Wow, what a wild day for rumor, speculation and other craziness. I have faith in President Bush, as he has been strong on his picks so far. However, this is truly a momentous moment for the US, we will either continue to slide into the abyss of liberalism mandated by the courts, or actually begin to regain the rights and freedoms that we have lost to the courts.
Glad to be here (wish I could speed up time!), MOgirl

Very slick of WH to 'leak' the Edith(s) name(s). After that, the Conservatives are collectively relieved and there is less initial backbiting. And the Rat / MSM cabal begins attack mode in off hours. No time for Kennedy et.al. to begin the 10:00 pm press conferences. They have to make 'em 10:00 am when no one's watching.
Either way Kennedy is blitzed (pm) or sobering up (am) and ineffective.
All hail Karl Rove.

Sad to say, on many, many issues, replacing O'Conner with even a solid conservative will NOT change the makeup of the USSC - but will only maintain the status quo. Replacing Rehnquist - ditto. Stevens or Souter or Ginsberg must leave the court it to have a chance of becoming conservative or originalist in any major respect.
A conservative now will be a mere "holding action".
