I can imagine this type of law being enforced vigorously in some US blue states in about 10 years.
In a recent article about "honor killings," one poster was adamant that such things as these pre-date Islam and, therefore, we cannot blame Islam for any of this.

I think barbarism does pre-date Islam and is rooted in paganism, although perpectually muddled Islam certainly seems to condone some vestiges of barbarism.
