About 15-20 yrs ago Mexico was very safe compared to now. It is the influence of drug gangs.The sale of illegal drugs makes criminals very rich and influential.

They are able to buy police, judges, prosecutors, customs officials etc. Their influence is already felt on the US side of the border. Many law enforcement agents have already been convicted and many more than that are corrupt.

This is the front line on the war on drugs, and it is just a matter of time before it comes to a city near you. It's going to make prohibition era Chicago look like kid stuff.
