... Whatever the reason, being a nerd, a geek, a dork -- whatever you want to call the tragically unhip -- is becoming a source of pride. ... And, increasingly, people are parading around in shirts that say "Dork Pride!" among other things. Such items have gotten so popular that CafePress.com, an online merchandiser, has created a special category for shirts and other items celebrating geeks, dorks and nerds. ... For now, though, he's going with it and has put a bumper sticker on his motorcycle that says "Talk Nerdy To Me" so he attracts the kind of women he's looking for -- "a librarian type girl," who likes to go to bookstores and art galleries and whose eyes don't glaze over when he starts talking about the finer points of "Babylon 5" or "Battlestar Galactica." ... "I see them as eccentrics or maybe smart, gentle people with a passion for something that may not be popular at the moment, like maybe computers, 'Star Wars,' physics," says Mai, a 28-year-old university employee who lives in Walnut, California. "Say, for instance, we're watching a dream movie with Tom Cruise, Denzel Washington, Brad Pitt and Topher Grace. I'd gush over Topher Grace," she adds, referring to an actor from "That '70s Show" who's known for his geek appeal.
To prove her point, Mai has an "I (Heart) Dorks" tank top, which she wears often.

"...if things go well, I might be showing her my O face..."
"Sitting by the computer, but I am not maintaining the network or anything."
Thanks to us who do, you can browse FR while at work. :)
P.S. We read your email. ;D
Don't go with that. Say, "Hey baby, I can send you to the Moon and back."
Works like a charm.
There is no higher form of existence. Is there? By the way, what is this "sex" thing I keep hearing about?
A tagline has been inspired... :)
You knew, of course, that a Freeper would offer anecdotal evidence almost immediately to refute this. I am proud to say that Mr. RightField, a jock of the first order, has been this geek's faithful companion for 33+ years. I don't know how much beauty he saw in me way back then, but he could see that I understood and even watched baseball and football games, so how could he resist???
Now go look at my profile, if you want a laugh.
But if you are a geek all you will ever be is a highly paid servant. You will be Spock to someone else's Kirk because you don't have the social skills to enlist the aid of others and don't have the temperament to handle risk taking and uncertainty.
Those were the skills the football jocks learned.
"Samir Nahja...Nasa...Nah... Well Notgonnaworkhereanymore."
LOL
Sweet!
It's called "sarcasm."
Don't make me get Blooregard to explain it to you...
(Points to whoever gets THAT reference...)
The idea is that you're kind of geeky or nerdy yourself!
And I do NOT mean that in a bad way!
LOL!
ND is overrated because it was played up like it was an underground success when really it had numerous free screenings for months in cities across the country. There was even an effort to get audiences to see this movie 3 times each during the preview period (to win t-shirts and other prizes).
They "built" a cult following.
It's okay but it doesn't warrant all of the attention it received.
Now, understanding all that, I went to Claire's today. They had a selection of t-shirts, keychains and posters which said, Nerd, Dork, or Geek. So, I guess it is ok for little girls to be any of the above.

What, you mean pumping gas for a living, going back home to the trailer, and reminiscing about the glory days when his life peaked at 17?
No, thanks!
Got that right.
