You just answered your own question. If unilaterally lowering tariffs is good for us, then there's no need for a setting a precedent for infringing on our sovereignty by enacting CAFTA.

You just answered your own question. If unilaterally lowering tariffs is good for us, then there's no need for a setting a precedent for infringing on our sovereignty by enacting CAFTA. My statement was that unilaterally lowering trade barriers is beneficial. Doing it multi-laterally increases the beneficial effects. That is the goal of CAFTA - multi lateral lowering fo trade barriers. And that is why CAFTA is good, as any advocate of low taxes will tell you.
