Officials Play Down Plan Described in Secret FBI Bulletin

Dirt roads trace pale lines across a desolate landscape of bald peaks and plunging canyons near Texas' Big Bend and bridge the border at dozens of improvised crossings. For decades, these routes have been used to smuggle drugs and humans. Now there is growing concern they could become deadly conduits for terrorism.

The concern is buttressed by a confidential but unclassified FBI intelligence bulletin * * *

The plot, according to uncorroborated information provided by an FBI informant, involves a man, described as an Arab who goes by the nickname "El Español," and Ernesto Zatarín Beliz, also known as El Traca, suspected of being a Mexican drug trafficker and member of the Zetas, the feared enforcers of the notorious Gulf cartel. * * *

"El Español is gathering truck drivers with knowledge of truck routes in the United States and explosive experts" in the state of Coahuila, according to the March 11 memo, which originated in the San Diego FBI office and was made available by a U.S. attorney's office. The informant "believes that the activity in Coahuila, Mexico, is terrorist related." * * *

"We are trying to protect national security," said Special Agent Jan Caldwell. "We can't do that when things like this are put in newspapers."

Registration required to view this very important news report. For the Freepers who do not know about the Zetas, they are elite Mexican commandos who were trained by the CIA-U.S, Military. Zetas are covert operatives who now control Mexican border smuggling (drugs and people) and have infiltated seven states in the U.S. Read More Here? Recent rumors about Arab terrorists smuggling WMDs and nuclear weapons across our borders are spreading on the Internet.

The White House has been battling mainstream reporters over an alleged 'leak' by Karl Rove. Just a tempest in a teapot is my take on the Rove allegations. But the obvious links between the CIA-U.S. Military and the Zetas cannot be ignored.

If one terrorist attack takes place on U.S. soil, and the they entered from Mexico, President Bush may face very angry critics from both political parties. Liberals would be claiming 'it's all a conspiracy' and conservatives would be howling about national security. The left-and-right combined could be a powerful force yelling for 'heads to roll.'

Time to lock down our borders !

I've been in a running debate with some academics about the "suitcase nuke" threat from the Mexican border. They brand my hysterical. "Can't happen." We have everything here except the nuke itself.

BTW, for about six months I've been on record as saying that this would be a perfect storm that is going to once and for all finish the Dems: an activist judge will in some way enable these terrorists to either come into the country or he will release one; illegals and/or porous borders will contribute to the next attack; and there will be another severe attack on the U.S. homeland---and all this will lead to phenomenal backlash against the "open borders" crowd.

Would appear that the establishment of the borderless New World Order is running into some problematic reality checks.

"Can't happen"

That's hysterical.

Take your academic friends to the border. Preferably, say, somewhere east of Douglas or West of Sasabe. Let us know if you think there's any big deal with a group of 3-5 guys carrying a few backpacks getting across.
