That's right, Vlady, feed the crocodile next door.
Little Joe Putin will do anything for money. It's a pity really, The Russian people deserve better.
Hum...Russia and China becoming chummy again, what gives?
If the Russians partnered with Japan and India maybe they could control China's aims in Siberia, but this move by Putin seems a little dumb...
Every penny increase in the cost of a barrel of oil rushes folks headlong at increasing speed looking for substitutes. There are some. This E85 I see being sold in rural areas strikes me as worthy of interest. It's my understanding that something like 1% of the cars on US roads will work on that fuel. $60.00 oil will cause that to increase at increasing speeds. Let's say in 10 years 75% of cars on US roads used that mixture. It says right here by that time oil exporters would be begging us to take their oil.
The point is, as long as no one loses faith in markets, and allows free societies to use push and enterprise, everything will work out just fine.
Stalin had an agreement with Hitler, too, at one time.
They never learn. OTOH they never keep their promises, so it doesn't matter.
That's OK. They richly deserve each other, and it would serve both of them right. One would have difficulty imagining better outcome.
True unless you consider Golistyn's theory, which is way to loopy for me to have anything more than a general underatnding of it.
I know this is not the Golitsyn you mean but I love to tell the story...
Prince Michael Golitsyn of Russia had taken an Italian Catholic wife, to the intense displeasure of Czarina Anna Ivanovna. Although the prince's bride soon died, the czarina remained bent on punishing him. She had a vendetta against the prince and his family, who opposed her rule; she also had a vicious sense of humor.
She ordered an ice palace built in St. Petersburg in the winter of 1739, completely outfitted with ice furnishings - dishes, toilets, tables, even a four poster ice bed. When all was finished, she selected the ugliest woman she could find to be the prince's second bride and forced the couple to parade about town on an elephant before the wedding. Accompanying them was a procession of freaks.
The procession made its way to the ice palace, where the "Pair of Fools" were stripped and sent to their icy nuptial chamber. Then all exits were sealed. The couple survived the frigid night, and nine months later, the prince's wife gave birth to twins.
Russia and China?
They both have a communist culture.
Birds of a feather flock together.
LOL! That was good but, doesn't the cold make you blue, not red?
Thats what bothers me, all it would take is for one true Communist super power to emerge and given the already socialist red nature of Europe...I don't know, but it bothers me. Best make some powerful friends fast. I believe India is possibility.
Dumb mistake. Who does he think is going to put the money in to build up Russia's extraction and shipment infrastructure? The Chinese are sitting on a bunch of dollars right now, but they won't be spending them on Russia. And besides, Chinese oil companies don't have that kind of technology. 'Course the French will probably step in.
ping
I had a girlfriend who did that to me once as well.
Old communist dictators always stick together.
Considering how much we've done with Free Trade to build up the Chinese military and industry, there is little room to talk.
And we helped build the Nazi and Japanese industrial might, just like we're doing with China. We never learn either.
