There have been many musings about L'Affair Palme but few actual date put to events.
I am posting this request for help in putting these events. I've posted what I believe to be the chronological order events with any real dates that I can discover.
Can Anyone Help?? (all dates 2003)
Interesting from a Google search and the resulting blogs, it appears that the left sees Miller and Kristoff as Right Wingers!! At least they appear to be more thoughtful critics of Iraq policy. It raises the possibility that they may have shared information.
Oh, and what does it mean for a grown man and his wife to "spend a year in Washington on a congressional fellowship"? Probably in about 1986/7.
I think it's more likely Kristof consulted Judith Miller about the matter. She had been writing about WMD's for a long time and would have had extensive CIA contacts.
Let's suppose, after the breakfast, Kristoff goes to Judith to bounce the story off her. It's possible Judith said something like, "Oh, his wife was there? She's CIA, you know".
That makes sense. The increasiong permutations increases the chances of being right!
I also found this from 2004 which reinforces what you brought to light.

But Wilson was caught off guard when around July 9 he received a phone call from Robert Novak, who, according to Wilson, said he'd been told by a C.I.A. source that Wilson's wife worked for the agency. "Can you confirm or deny?" Wilson recalls Novak as saying. "I need another source."
I like the Kristof/Miller connection as well. Kristof's wife, FYI, also works for the Times as a reporter. Oops, maybe I shouldn't have gone there....is she fair game?
Spouse of outed CIA officer signs on with Kerry By Joseph Curl
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
Saturday February 14, 2004; Front Page
"In May 2003, after his mission to Niger but before his July 6, 2003, Times op-ed piece, Mr. Wilson began working for Mr. Kerry as an unpaid adviser, offering foreign policy advice and speechwriting tips.
Mr. Wilson originally said reporters told him that White House political adviser Karl Rove told them his wife was "fair game," a statement he later retracted. In September, Mr. Kerry who is making prewar intelligence a prime campaign issue said the disclosure of Mrs. Plame's name '...is more than another example of politics driving the Bush administration. ... A special counsel should be appointed immediately so that we can find out how George Bush let this happen and hold those responsible accountable.'"
Fair game...LOL!
I'm beginning to think Bob Novak and Judy Miller were on separate tracks. According to my post above, Novak told Wilson he had a source at CIA.
I think Miller's source was Kristof...or vice versa. Especially keeping in mind that Miller never wrote an article on this subject. Was she working with Kristof? Was she his source?
As for Matthew Cooper, I think he's probably telling the truth that he first heard it from Rove, in an attempt to wave Time off the allegation that Cheney had requested Wilson's trip. [Not exactly a stellar performance by a reporter...the rumor had been floating all over town from what we've been told].
If Miller's source is an active CIA Agent, could she be afraid of being charged (despite claims she is free to name her source)with exactly the crime that Rove is being accused of?
I don't think so...the law doesn't apply to the RECIPIENT of the information. Unless they disseminate it to another, putting them in legal jeopardy.
I think NOVAK got the CIA leak. I think Miller put it together after learning of Kristof's breakfast meeting.
Could minor Ambassador Joe Wilson himself have been the source in blowing his own Wife's cover?
It is distinctly possible, (though it may be unlikely that Joe Wilson himself directly was NY Times Judith Miller's source), since Joe Wilson himself evidently routinely bragged openly to strangers about her CIA employment, prior to such "cover" being "blown" in the press.
Here's an example of Joe's apparently routine and open bragging about Valerie being a "CIA agent," which became known directly to me over a year ago:
He certainly bragged about it per a famous and highly reliable source's (named below) account of his own face-to-face encounter with Amb. Joe Wilson prior to Valerie Plame's "outing" as a CIA agent/employee.
Based upon a personal conversation (we were in a small group eating; it was NOT an "off the record") I had with eminent historian Victor Davis Hanson (we were at a luncheon table together during a trip to Europe), it appeared entirely possible that Joe Wilson himself was the (or one source, if not the original one) possible source in revealing his own wife's status as a CIA agent or employee.
Victor Davis Hanson (Wilson presumably knew Victor Davis Hanson wrote regularly for NRO (National Review Online), had done OpEds for the Wall street Journal, and other publications, and had his own Website with a widespread following) said he (VDH) & Joe Wilson were both in the same "Green Room" before a televised debate-discussion on Iraq, etc. and Joe first warned the TV make-up person not to get powder on his $14,000 Rolex watch, then he bragged to Victor about several things (possessions and trips to Aspen, etc.), like his expensive car (I think it was a Mercedes), and then bragged about his beautiful wife who, Joe Wilson said (braggingly) was a CIA operative.
I asked Victor Davis Hanson Why he didn't write up this account.(?) He replied that Joe Wilson would probably simply deny it, since only he (VDH) & Joe Wilson were in the Green Room together before the broadcast.
However, it is now easy to surmise that Joe Wilson is a crass, materialistic, self-promoting, vain, egotistical, bragaddocio-opportunist, so this account is perfectly consistent with Valerie Plame's TWO photo shoots in Vanity Fair. (Or was it Vogue? No, probably too crass for Vogue, n'est pas?)
Joseph "Austin Powers" Wilson!
No wonder this Republic won't last!
Uh oh, I feel a Photoshop moment coming on, unfortunately, I've got to get supper started. Can anybody help out here? (with the photoshop, not with supper)
Sorry, I do supper, not photoshop.
We need a cheesy Joe Wilson taking a pair of scissors to a picture of Cheney...chanting "yeah, Baby!".

See post #15 what Freeper F-117A has discovered!!!!
Interesting. Did you notice who were included as endorsing him - beside GHB and James Baker: Dan "Kinko" Rather, Bill "RINO" Cohen, Sandy "down the trousers" Berger and Bill "..." Clinton!!!
TWO MONTHS??????
So, Plame is his third wife? I believe he married her in 1997 (3 years after she was outed by Aldrich Ames)
