BRITISH police are considering the possibility that the four key suspects in last week's London attacks may have been tricked into setting off their bombs, a newspaper has reported.
"We do not have hard evidence that the men were suicide bombers," a Scotland Yard spokesman told The Sunday Telegraph. "It is possible that they did not intend to die." According to the paper, one police hypothesis is that the bombers were tricked by a "master" who told them they would have time to escape - when in fact the devices were set to go off immediately.
"The bombers' masters might have thought that they couldn't risk the four men being caught and spilling everything to British interrogators," an unnamed security official told the Telegraph.
Lending weight to the theory is the fact that all four men had paid up their parking tickets before boarding a train at Luton for King's Cross, and that they all bought return tickets to the capital.
Moreover, the paper said, the men were carrying their explosives inside rucksacks, as opposed to strapped to their bodies as is common practice among suicide bombers.
None were reported to have cried "Allah Akbar" (God is Greatest) before setting off their charge - something which most Middle Eastern suicide bombers do.
I think you are missing the point. If true this is rather devastating to the jihadi "cause".
...which was brought up on Free Republic days ago.
Really! I hope Scotland Yard is as suspicious as we are....lol
Watching the interviews of neighborhood people who knew these murderers saying "they were such nice young men, you would never think it .... bla bla bla"....
.either these people are covering up for them, or they are delusional.
If there is a grain of sanity amongst the british muslim community and islam isn't a complete death cult - then these people need to start stepping up and turning them in etc....
Btw....anyone hear from ol Cat Stevens on this attack of his people?
actually, this is not so "unbelievable".
Terrorists have long used couriers as a method of delivering bombs, in a lot of cases, without informing the courier of the contents! This is one of the reasons for the famous "Did you receive any packages to carry for someone" at airports.
Why use this tactic? It is not because there is a shortage of willing couriers! Rather, even a willing courier will exhibit some amount of "strange behavior" (sweating, nervousness, etc) which could compromise the mission.
Whether this is actually the case here is probably too early to determine. Some of the "facts" (such as the round trip ticket) imply that it may be the case - others seem to contradict.
In any event, the "couriers" most likely knew that what they were transporting would lead to the death of innocent civilians and I have zero sympathy with them.
But, as another poster has already noted, it is vitally important to learn of the true "motivators" of these individuals - not for some inane PC reason, but instead, through the knowledge gained, we will be better able to confront the enemy.
Exactly - the end result is we'll destroy them and their disgusting "nests".
I think he's singing "Pieces Train" now.
hahahaha...did you make that up yourself?
Speaking of cat stevens.....Look what I found!
Besides, that would have called attention to themselves. Likely they watched enough TV to know a little bit about how criminals cover their tracks.
Thank goodness no one was killed in today's attacks.
