(CNSNews.com) - Young liberals this week flocked to the nation's capital to hear, among other things, liberal television pundit and Democrat political strategist Paul Begala accuse Republicans of wanting to kill him and his children to preserve tax cuts for the rich.
Begala was featured at the first-ever Campus Progress National Student Conference, which was designed to provide campus liberals with the tools necessary to fight the conservative movement. The event also drew former President Bill Clinton, for whom Begala once worked as an advisor.
A panel discussion entitled "Winning the War of Ideas" centered on topics discussed in the book "What's the Matter with Kansas" by Thomas Frank and detailed the challenges that Democrats face in persuading voters in the American heartland and elsewhere to embrace their agenda and support their candidates.
Begala's presence on the panel created a stir when he declared that Republicans had "done a p***-poor job of defending" the U.S.
Republicans, he said, "want to kill us."

Not even a group of young, naive liberals can take this kind of nonsense seriously. I think the incendiary rhetoric of Begala and Carville has been responsible for much of the destruction of the Democratic party going on before our very eyes.
Begalla, Carville and Dean are paid Republican operatives!
They are being paid by Karl Rove to destroy the Demoncrat Party!
>Sarcasm off<
there are several ways to take "want to kill us"
a) along the same lines as "want to beat us", i.e. defeat
b) we could just want to put them out of their misery
c) or he meant it literally "death to democrats"
;-)
Didn't Paul Begala rent a basement apartment from Barney Frank at one time?
(Is Rove Jewish?)
For someone whose singular triumph in life was owed to "it's the economy, stupid", Begala is now completely oblivious to the fact that Americans no longer buy into the "tax cut for the rich" implications. EVENTS have solidly discredited the sentiment embodied in the mantra, as people instinctively know that the "rich" are composed of our country's entrepreneurs, investors, and employers, a majority of whom fit into at least one if not two or all of these recipients of the Bush tax rate reductions.
The efficacy of economic class warfare through the demagogy of tax policy is, with the obvious resulting benefits to our economy, now completely nil, IMHO.
it's so extreme that even the dimmest dem
watching tv should be able to see through it.
thanks to begala for promoting the republican party.
They have lost, already.
They just don't know it yet.
What we are witnessing is the Demoncrat Dying FRenzy.
All the Republiocans have to do is figure out how to take advantage to the Demoncrat death throes, and I am not too sure they can.
Third party time?
What's good for Shiavo, since they opposed Bush and Frist on that issue, should be good for them.
Remove the Political Feeding Tube!!
Though some are saying all this crazy nonsense like the Tom Delay non-specific charges, the DSM bullcrap, the Karl Rove stuff, is not so much about even doing any damage, but is only a tactic used to stall and slow down any Republican agenda from actually getting done.
While thats a possibilty, I think it gives the liberals way too much credit. It would hint that they are intelligent enough to attempt a strategy, when they are only truly capable of knee jerk reactions about thinks that trigger their "feelings".
He had friends on the plane that hit the Pentagon? I doubt it. Bagala has no friends.
The Dems are safe just as long as they keep on making us laugh-nobody kills clowns.
If you look up in the air at an airplane, the chances are better that 3 to 1 that either Begala or Carville has a close personal friend on that plane.
So sayeth the New York Times.
Keep 'em talking! In fact, give 'em megaphones!
Is it possible for Repubs to sue Mr. Begala for libel/slander in a class action suit. If it is, maybe some of these idiots might be forced to rethink their allegations and STFU.
bttt
You'd better believe it - can we get one established before 2008?
