Senator Clinton Votes
American Chronicle ^ | July 16, 2005 | By Jim Kouri, CPP

Presidential hopeful Senator Hillary Clinton once again displayed how she can talk out of both sides of her mouth depending on whom she's addressing. Recently in New York, Senator Clinton, as part of her attempt to re-invent herself, told a cheering crowd that the United States had to protect our borders and deal with illegal immigration.

But, according to the Washington Times, Clinton and her fellow New York Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer turned thumbs down on two amendments to a Department of Homeland Security spending bill, which would have funded 2,000 new Border Patrol agents and more than 5,000 new detention beds to house illegal aliens.

According to NewsMax, just last week the former first lady blasted President Bush on border security in a statement posted to her official Senate Web site. NewMax quotes Madam Hillary as saying, "This administration has failed to provide the resources to protect our borders, or a better system to keep track of entrants to this country," she complained, adding, "I welcome the addition of more border security." In the past she has claimed to be "adamantly against illegal immigrants."

Yet Senator Clinton and her comrades voted against border security enhancements, once again displaying her propensity for double-speak. Meanwhile, Senator Schumer's explanation -- once you cut through all the bull -- is that there's just not enough pork in such a bill for New York, since states such as California, Texas and Arizona stand to gain increased funding to control the borders. Senator Clinton, on the other hand, does what she does best: refuses to comment on her actions. She's probably once again studying the situation to see how she feels about it, a familiar Democrat Party trick to avoid telling the American people what she really believes.

This to all the talk shows that think she is going right. She talks right and votes left.

The amendment by Sen. Ensign was to provide discretion to the Secretary of Homeland Security to shift some money around and increase the proposed 1,000 new agents to 2,000. Sen. Ensign mentions his understanding of problems in training 2,000 new hires so his attempt was to shift some funds around... Apparently other spending [pork maybe] by the other senators was more important.

Sen. Ensign's comments on the floor regarding his proposed amendment from the Senate Journal....

N.Y. Times Alters Hillary Clinton's Immigration Quote
By JT Thompson (07/16/05)

In keeping step with placing skepticism on the media, the New York Times misquoted Hillary Rodham Clinton's statement. The original quote was made on Feb. 11, 2003 Hillary's quote was to WABC Radio's John Gambling. It's been brought to the forefront by NewsMax, who reported only an hour after the broadcast her actual statement.

"I am, you know, adamantly against illegal immigration." The truth is, her actual statement was "I am, you know, adamantly against illegal immigrants"

The problem here is that the first quote means she's against the criminal activity of illegally immigration. What she actually said means she's adamantly against the immigrants themselves. Since she never corrected herself, we can only take her at the words she spoke.

This comes across as another in a laundry list of inappropriate statements Hillary has made. The list seems to be growing at a very substantial rate. It's a clear indication of the difference in being a Junior Senator in New York, and the amount of scrutiny that comes with running for president.

Where the problem lies is that all the other media outlets picked up the Times quote. For some reason nobody bothered to research this and listen for themselves. What does that say?

In the past she has claimed to be "adamantly against illegal immigrants."

Schumer explained his vote to the Washington Times, saying that the costs of enhancing border security would "take away money from the people every day who defend us and, since 9/11, have new duties."

Mrs. Clinton's office didn't return a call from the Times.'
