Prosecute Plame: More Treachery in the War at Home
frontpagemag.com ^ | July 16, 2005 | DAVID HOROWITZ

Posted on 07/16/2005 8:20:46 PM PDT by DaveTesla

So now we know a lot of the facts. In the midst of a war, a rogue CIA employee named Valerie Plame set out to sabotage the President's war policy -- a policy ratified by both political parties and both houses of Congress. To do this she sent her husband on a mission to Niger to discredit the President's statement that Saddam Hussein was seeking uranium there -- in other words to discredit a justification for the war in which Americans were continuing to die. Forget for a moment the treasonous nature of an action designed to undermine a duly arrived at war policy and to destroy the credibility of the commander-in-chief while this nation's soldiers were in harm's way. The mere act of sending a relative on a mission like this was illegal under existing statutes for someone in Plame's position.

Her husband, Joseph Wilson, went off to Niger, did no investigation and came back and lied about what he had allegedly discovered. The bi-partisan 9/11 commission concluded that Wilson's claims were false -- a year and half after the damage the Plame-Wilson team intended was already done.

The Plame-Wilson lie was designed to make the President look like a liar and the nation's democratically and legally arrived at war policy a fraud. This came right at the climax of anti-war primary campaign of Howard Dean in July 2003, just three months after the fall of Baghdad and when the terrorist counter-attack had already begun.

Immediately the Democratic Party leadership jumped on the President calling him a liar and a fraud using the 16 words in the January 2003 State of the Union address about Niger as evidence. These 16 words were perfectly true than (as now) yet that didn't stop Democrats from using the Plame-Wilson lies to undermine the authority of the commander-in-chief in the eyes of the American people and before the entire world. No psychological warfare campaign ever conducted by an enemy against the United States has been as effetive as this one.

It emboldened our terrorist enemies, and sowed distrust in Europe and throughout the world about American policies, continued for more than six months with of course the megaphone provided by the NY Times and other Bush-hating and America bashing media institutions.

Joseph Wilson threw fuel on the fire by falsely claiming that Vice President Cheney had sent him and not his treacherous anti-Bush wife in her attempt to protect Saddam Hussein and his monster regime. NDavid Corn of the Saddam- and terrorist-sympathizing Nation and other journalists in the opposition press jumped on the story and projected the treacherous activities of Wilson and Plame onto the Bush Administration which was still trying to carry on an anti-terrorist war in the Middle East.

Corn was the first to suggest that outing Plame as a rogue CIA employee was itself treason and certainly against the law. It was not. Plame is not a cover CIA operative and besides and all its Democrat friends in Congress opposed the law protecting CIA agents and protected and even lionized the rogue CIA agent Philip Agee whose leaks of the names of covert CIA agents had gotten one agent killed and was responsible for the enactment of the law. The Nation also has been in the forefront of the fawners at the feet of liar Joseph Wilson giving him a dinner and award for his treachery. (Working against your own government in time of war, while in the employ of your government is by definition treachery.) In other words The Nation is entirely consistent: it will protect those CIA agents (Agee, Plame) who are enemies of the United States or its policies, and and only those agents.

Democrats will of course mentally dissociate themselves from acts of conscious treachery. And many of them have reason to do so. Unlike the Nation radicals, they are not rooting for our enemies to win. On the other hand, over and over in this war they have shown that they are prepared to win elections even at the cost of American defeats in the war on terror -- which as we can easily caculate may cost 100,000 American lives at a blow. Or as the President once put it to Tom Daschle, they are a party who will put their partisan interests above the security of 300 million Americans.

In a synchronity that all honest liberals should pay attention to, an appeals court has found that no torture or illegality took place at Guantanamo and that the legal campaign led by communist supporter Michael Ratner in behalf of the Guantanamo terrorists is based on an even bigger lie than the Plame-Wilson sabotage. In this assault on the war on terror from behind our lines the Democratic Party is also a willing and essential accomplice.

It's time for the Democrats to stop their sabotage of the war on terror. It's time for them to put away the witch-hunt against Karl Rove and Homeland Security, and to begin finally to think about defending this country instead of its internal enemies.

No, Charlie Rangel actually has a sexier voice than I do.

Okay, folks. I'm clobbered. I'm beaten down. I'm the STUPID OF THE WEEK and a bunch of other things. Now people are excerpting my previous comments from other posts and taking them out of context. What a triumph!

And Nopardons -- you don't really care if I list some of the statements Horowitz makes that I find questionable or as-yet unproven and post them to you tomorrow, do you? You'll just insult me anyway (DU DNC talking points and all). What's the point. Forget it.

And as I've said on this and other threads, I'm just waiting for the investigation to be over -- BUT NO -- that's a highly suspicious attitude to take. So apparently the Special Prosecutor is in on the conspiracy, too. Hey, maybe Plame is giving Fitzgerald blowjobs in exchange for her freedom. Heck, maybe Wilson is too. We all know how much Dems really like blowjobs.

You're right. I don't belong here. And I'll save you the effort of keyboarding: I won't let the door hit me in the ass on my way out.

Pre WW I, France, even more so than The Kaiser, was "on the make", looking to stir up trouble! France and Russia, were in the Baltic, selling arms (France) and training groups in Bosnia, such as THE BLACK HAND.

If you think that Charlie Rangel has a "sexy voice", you are in serious trouble! LOL

Your previous comments are fair game, especially when it shows your mindset. The inexplicable posts you made to this thread, are magnified by what you've said before.

I asked you a question more than an hour ago. You ignored me. I asked you again, but you fended me off with the lateness of the hour. Yet, you're still here, whinging, whining, moaning and groaning about how set upon you are and your still haven't answered my question! And you've now expanded my query to include ALL of Horowitz's previous commentary...which id did NOT ask of you!

We don't play patty-cake here; you either put up/back your positions, WITH FACTS, or you shut up!

What happened to the "oh this is fun" bit? Feeling cornered isn't fun! I told ya so. :-)

And yes, I did and DO care quite a lot, to see just HOW you answer my original query. I wouldn't have asked otherwise. FR is the BIG TIME! I don't ask frivolous questions and expect others to factually debate and/or refute.

There have been a series of leaks coming out of CIA intended to wound Bush and obstruct the war. The Wilson/Plame case just allows us a chance to catch some of them red-handed.

Actually, both the CIA and State Department have been leaking like sieves throughout Bush's terms. Along with the Mainstream Media, they have constituted an effective "Axis of Disinformation". Just for grins, what do you think of the following hypothesis:

Why is Judith Miller sitting in jail for refusing to reveal her source? If it's Rove, that makes no sense. If it's Colin Powell, well that makes a little bit of sense, but not much, since even if it is Powell, nothing illegal was done and it would not really hurt him much. If she is her own source, it would be embarrassing to her career, but it would blow over, since once again that would break no law.

Perhaps we should look at things from a different perspective. First, WHO, professionally speaking, is Judith Miller? The answer is, one of the country's foremost journalistic experts on WMD's. She has spent years studying and investigating this issue and developing her sources and contacts worldwide. Regardless of whether you like her politics, she has a proven track record of expertise in the field of WMD's.

Second, WHAT is Valerie Plame's portfolio at the CIA? The answer is, of course, WMD's. She is in a position to provide valuable information to any journalist specializing in that subject. Since Plame was reassigned to that desk in 1997, what contacts, if any, have there been between her and Judith Miller? Do they know each other, and if so, how well?

I can't help but wonder what a thorough investigation of any contacts and communications between Miller and Valerie Plame would turn up? What would a cross-check of their phone logs show?

This is, of course, speculation on my part, but my hunch is that what we are dealing with is a much larger criminal conspiracy than just Joe Wilson, his wife and a few rogue CIA officials. I believe it involves the active collusion of MSM agents (Miller, Cooper), possibly their employers (NYT, Time), and the rogue elements in the CIA and State Department.

If this scenario, or something along these lines, is correct, then that would definitely explain Miller's determination to tough it out, since she would be entangled in a potential criminal conspiracy. Her salvation is that, if she keeps quiet and no one else cracks, it will probably be impossible to prove anything.

I tend to agree with your speculation, but would include several liberal "senators" riding the helm. JFKerry's whole presidential ride was about how wrong we were to remove Saddam. The French/UN'ers seemed his main priority, that would have indeed protected the French/German/Russian oil deals with old Saddam.

Doesn't he sit on the Intel committee, and doesn't he have an established record of being in bed with our enemies?

Wilson's adventure appears to have been a complete flop, what's left is an attempt to politically damage and if possible remove your enemy from power, meaning President Bush. Rove just happens to be in the line of fire to take down a President again.

One of the great side-effects of this stupid story is that Republicans seem to be saying "That's it" and are finding their inner asskicker.

I don't know about new documents.

The original story was that French intel was investigating Niger's illicit uranium sales, and obtained documents to that effect.

They asked the agent to obtain more documents, so he went to his source in the Niger embassy, who obtained more documents.

The French decided the new documents were false. They were passed to the US by some means or other, and then denounced as forgeries when the US began talking about Niger uranium smuggling.

Note that the French were aware of the smuggling and were in possession of genuine documents which they did not mention at the time.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1256475/posts

Heres another good link:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1161297/posts

Quoting from the Financial Times:

The FT has now learnt that three European intelligence services were aware of possible illicit trade in uranium from Niger between 1999 and 2001. Human intelligence gathered in Italy and Africa more than three years before the Iraq war had shown Niger officials referring to possible illicit uranium deals with at least five countries, including Iraq.

This intelligence provided clues about plans by Libya and Iran to develop their undeclared nuclear programmes. Niger officials were also discussing sales to North Korea and China of uranium ore or the "yellow cake" refined from it: the raw materials that can be progressively enriched to make nuclear bombs.

The raw intelligence on the negotiations included indications that Libya was investing in Niger's uranium industry to prop it up at a time when demand had fallen, and that sales to Iraq were just a part of the clandestine export plan. These secret exports would allow countries with undeclared nuclear programmes to build up uranium stockpiles.

One nuclear counter-proliferation expert told the FT: "If I am going to make a bomb, I am not going to use the uranium that I have declared. I am going to use what I acquire clandestinely, if I am going to keep the programme hidden."

This may have been the method being used by Libya before it agreed last December to abandon its secret nuclear programme. According to the IAEA, there are 2,600 tonnes of refined uranium ore - "yellow cake" - in Libya. However, less than 1,500 tonnes of it is accounted for in Niger records, even though Niger was Libya's main supplier.
