Since I do not believe a conservative can support homosexuality, this makes me doubt Sen. Santorum's conservative credentials.

However, a libertarian Republican can support ignoring individual sexual choices.

It helps me explain some of what I've seen in Santorum.

Remind me not to vote for you. Santorum is against Gay Marriage, Are you saying Gays shouldn't have jobs?

"Since I do not believe a conservative can support homosexuality, this makes me doubt Sen. Santorum's conservative credentials."

IMO Santorum is not supporting the homosexual lifestyle.

It's quite probable that the discussion of this man's sexuality never took place between Santorum and his aide. Why should it? As long as an employee is not "in your face" about it, and does a good job, why should it matter?

There are lots of ways for an individual to sin. Should all sinners be disqualified from gainful employment?

If you "doubt Sen. Santorum's conservative credentials," then you know nothing about him whatsoever--which you should, since he's the third-ranker. And not to put too fine a point on it...but Santorum has never said he "supports" homosexuality. And he certainly didn't say it here. If you're saying a gay person should be fired from his job because his sexual preference is discovered (not that this is the case here, as everybody in these circles knew about it), then you may be on the wrong forum altogether.

Uhhhh . . Santorum is anything but a libertarian. Sorry to disappoint you. (You'll have to find another demon in his closet now.)

Conservatives can work with people whose personal choices they don't endorse. We do that every day with liberals. And yes we do it with gay people. We even do it with a liberal girlfriend or wife. You can love and respect someone as a human being even when you don't necessarily agree with all of their views. Love the sinner, hate the sin.

We're taught to love the sinner......hate the sin. I don't see Santorum's actions as inconsistent with the Conservative Christian faith....on the contrary, it's quite consistent. I question Santorum's conservative bonafides....but not because of this.
