On MSNBC a little while ago, they had a story about the "politics of the CIA leak". The reporter was interviewing Pat Buchanan and Democratic strategist Peter Fenn. What follows is the best transcript I could piece together quickly. I've quoted Fenn word for word.
PAT BUCHANAN: It's very, very serious...There is a credibility problem for the press secretary...There is no legal problem for Rove...Reporters in Washington have a gleam in their eye and smiles on their faces, and there's a reason for it...Pat Fitzgerald hasn't been digging for two years and judges haven't been sending reporters to jail because they don't have anything...Everyone in town (Washington) feels there is something very, very serious and today's story in the NY Times where a memo was floating around aboard Air Force One about Wilson's trip to Africa indicates this could be very big stuff.
ALEX: Peter, what kind of big stuff could Pat be referring to?
PETER FENN: Alex, this is not a third-rate burglary. The focus had been on White House staff. Now, as Pat says, with this memo from the State Department about Wilson, about his wife, about the connection, it was brought onto Air Force One by Secretary Powell. I cannot imagine, Alex, that if he's going up and down the aisles with that memo as he was supposed to have been, that he did not discuss it with the President of the United States. I cannot imagine that there were not phone calls from Ari Fleischer, the Press Secretary who was on board, back to the White House about this. This was precisely at the time when Wilson was about to publish his article. Folks knew about his position about weapons of mass destruction. I have a sense that this may go all the way to the top.

Actually, for the sake of our nation, it wouldn't be a terrible consequence that VP Cheney take over and lead us for the next three years in the event that GWB is forced to resign. I know for many of us that this is wishful thinking but look at the possibilities. One, Cheney would take the gloves off in Iraq and use our weaponry as it was intended to kill Muslims who wish to kill our men and women. That wouldn't be bad. Second, we may be able to impose our will with respect to the criminal alien problem and open border disaster and get a right thinking conservative American to finally do the right thing and close down the borders and demand that employers are held accountable for hiring the criminal element from the south. Thirdly, I think Cheney maybe more amenable to considering options to CAFTA that are not a sellout to our hard working class that GWB looks forward to. He actually went to SC and spoke to textile workers saying that with CAFTA their job security and wages will improve. In my opinion, he is either the most stupid President of all time or the worst liar. I don't think Cheney could lie like that.
It wouldn't be the worst thing for our nation and the future of the US Constitution for GWB to be forced to resign, at least we would have a President with a pair, in my opinion, and willing to do what is right for the nation and not world government ass GWB is so keen to incorporate in his activities.

so sorry for extra "s" as the word apparently exists in the FR spell check routine.

"Are you serious? If things are as you wish they were, the CIA would have no reason to refer this to the justice dept, they would just have told Valerie to settle down. The justice dept would have investigated for 2 minutes and concluded: no case. You guys are whistling past the graveyard big time.
Do we really know why there was a referral or what it has turned into? If Rove was the target, he would have been informed and it would have leaked by now.
As I have said on other threads, I'm more interested in why Wilson was selected for this job in the first place and why was there no NDA with him about what he found or discovered.

If VP Cheney doesn't agree with President Bush, don't you think he would resign?
Nice try, but Cheney is on board with the President, and you are not going to stir up any support for impeachment on FR.

I think some people get these wacked out stories from the MSM and start somewhat believing them then come up with hypothetical possibilities unnecessarily.

I'm bored here. Waiting to go out with my wife I thought I would log in and check out the latest threads. But seriously, although Cheney wouldn't be my first choice for President, do you think he was vetted by the CFR? That is why I like him. He is not from an elitist institution, doesn't belong to any secret organizations, and most of us see him as a no nonsense guy who would just as soon kick the crap out of someone as shake their hand.
All I'm writing is that I don't think the worst would be all that terrible.

See your point and dont forget also we could get another 4+ years of Republican presidency and Rice as VP. Lordy. I cant go that far yet. Anyway. God give Bush strength.

Impeachment is a slow and costly process, never mind laden with politics. No, I like the old fashioned letter of resignation, from a honorable man indicating his failure to uphold his oath of office. It will never happen however. Are there any honorable men out there?
To: Final Authority
Blah, blah, blah. The President is staying where he is, he isn't resigning, he has upheld his oath, and you are simply killing time by trying to rally some malcontents.
Log off and go out to dinner with your wife.

If in fact he is found to have not upheld the oath of office and he refuses to resign is he still honorable, in you view?
To: Final Authority
indicating his failure to uphold his oath of office. And you all wonder why you're never in a position of power?

What position of power would you have me not in? Based on the fact that I am a very successful business man and entrepreneur I wonder if you know more about me than I do?
To: Final Authority
I think you are the one that is questioning the President Bush's honor of office but most people here on FR know he has honored the office, not because he's done everything perfect but he's real.

Anybody who thinks that George W. Bush has done ANYTHING that requires a resignation is NOT a Republican or a conservative, period.

I'll agree, he is real, but define "real". Clinton was real. He was a real liar, a real scumbag, and a real sex predator. No question, GWB is real as we are all with all of our faults and failures. I just question his overall motives for the future of his concept of one world government.
